Doug Ellis took Oneil to villa. During closed season Ellis as made 3 attempts to buy WALSALL. Who knows Ellis could of had his 4th bid accepted and offered Oneil a job with a club with some potential

Martin O`Neill is a very very good manager and always comes across very honest when he speaks on tv etc ...... with him "walking" from from his job means he will lose out on a fortune from the remainder of his contract i suppose unlike if he were sacked he would get paid up ? I take my hat off to him obviously a man of principle amongst the ridiculous amount of money being paid and spent in the premiership !!! .....that includes Man City btw who,s ridiculous wealth seems to be one of the reasons O`Neill walked ?

Martin O'Neill will be sorely missed at Villa Park.
Who ever comes in will have a big job to match up to him.

What ever the reason for him resigning Martin will always be guarranteed a good reception if he returns. Only he knows the reasons for his departure and hopefully no more players will leave-with the exception of Petrov, he'll probably follow O'Neill to whereever he ends up.

Cant see us finishing in the top 10 this season now unless we get a top draw manager- but not SGE!!!!!!

Most managers would do the same mate with the money he spent. What O'Neil has done for us is put us in the spotlight because the media love him to bits.
Ive said it for two years now he his out his depth at Villa. he cant handle big time players because of the way he manages he also threw away chumps league two years ago playing hesky in 442 for the last 13 games when we were virtually unbeatable at one stage playing 441.

Yes I would agree with the fact that hes spent a fair bit but he has bought some decent players-Milner, Young, Dunne, Downing, and a few duds-Harewood, Petrov, Beye, Heskey.

When he signesd Heskey he proved he had his favourites and played them constantly even when they needed rest.

He changed from a winning 4-5-1 to 4-4-2 to accom Heskey and then things started to go wrong but instead of reverting he tried and failed to make it work.

But he now finds himself with all his authority gone and his best players being sold behind him.
