Funny crappity smack bream Image Image Image looks like a carp too me in his hands.
Forgot the anglers name but i know he fishes for Lincs county.

LAYER PITS now that brings back memories it used to be crystal clear i would say thats where the first idea of pellet wagglers came from or though in them days it was great big peacocks tom bedder Ivan,stu killen,steve warner,sid meads stan the carpets you name them they all fished some matches there is it still fished :-/

Just checked..........

The year was 1981 (July)

The angler was aged 25

He was a pipe fitter from Notts

And the venue was 'Walter Bowers Muskham Fishery'

Yeah I vaguely knew Walter, he was the chap that bought the Newark Needle floats out. They got blasted by the press but they really did work if rigged up properly.

Not too sure but Muskham could well be A1 Pits or Great North Fishery or something like that; they may all be the same one.

Layer Pits is CAPS water (Colchester Club). It is at Layer-de-la-Haye south of Colchester. You have to join the Club then do various work parties to join the restricted list that are allowed on Layer. The carp are a bit big now, maybe 40 lb, and I am not at all certain but I don't think there are matches there any more.
It is about 14 acres, not as big as most think.
