Long shank hooks…….

#1

Unread post by TK »

Guys, need your assistance please.........

I struggle a bit unhooking short shank hooks, and prefer long shanks which I find easier to ‘get hold of’

During the winter I’m happy using the likes of PR31s, B590s and Drennan fine wire hooks which all have a long shank.

I’m looking for a make/model in a slightly higher gauge with a long shank but which are still relatively fine for ‘better’ presentation for silvers but also give me a fighting chance of holding out if I hook a 'bonus' fish………

All suggestions welcomed........

not many then TK you find the hoooks with a longer shank are a finer hook often for small baits squatts B/J and pinkies i like a long shank on my hemp rigs but still use a b511 if i'm bagging a carbon caster
sensas 3410 or a 6110 very strong but the gauge is bigger
i bet you thought i was taking the pi#s when i gave you those hooks i'l have a look to see if i've got any Image

Not at all Joffie - once again cheers for 'em Image although I did notice the 'short' shank :D when I whipped one on as a replacement for the lost hook when that stripey snagged me on Sunday

Had a few fish on it though Image Image

On a serious note, I bit my nails for 40 odd years - down to the quick - stopped bitimg em about 3 years ago and now I struggle to pick up/hold small things........a nightmare with shot these days, never mind the fading eyesight the fingers wont do what I want em to now :D

use a b511

Forgot about them Joffie - although not a real long shank, I restocked up yesterday with 20s, still got quite a few 22s and 24s left over in my drawer Image
