Its down again but the reason is its being moved to a new server. Obviously the old server couldnt stand being so far from civilisation.

Dave has put a phone no up for Trogg, so who is up for taking it in turns to ring him and wake him up from his beauty sleep. Image Image Image Image

Simon, I'm afraid you're speaking out of your wobbly cheeks again.

This whole issue has been brought about by xcalibre selling the hosting side of their business to a company called Web Fusion. The problem started when the servers were switched off and transfered by van up the M1 by Web Fusion to their Data Center in Leeds without Dave even being notified about this happening. Baring in mind that two of Dave's Business Websites were also taken down as they're on the same server you can imagine that he wasn't happy.
During all this something got damaged server wise and it's taken a bit of armbending to get Web Fusion to admit liability and provide a brand new server to replace the MD's one. This has now been resolved and the migration has been done, just a little bit of fine tuning to do behind the scenes now. Hopefully you should notice a difference in the site speed as a bonus. ;)

Simps, Re: Stu spamming the site I'm sure you're aware that sites like MD's are constantly subject to attack from SQL injection attacks and spammers trying to breach the defences.
For a very brief moment the database had to be left unprotected during the migration and in that split second a breach occured and it just happened to be Stu's member name and password that got used. >:(

Thankfully the database was backed up and it's all sorted now. ;)

Yeah Mugger, when I upgraded one of my security center features and forgot to re-activate it they were straight in with the Viagra links :D :D

Never had anyone's account breached before though. Sorry I just thought it was funny because it was a mod , and Stu of all people :D Image

peter just coz chelsea lost last night just relax. There was no malace intended about stu and his viagra links. I posted the same post on MDS and dave answered and you copied and pasted the same answer on here only that Dave didn't take it funny. Like Si as said (it must be a si thing ) it was just funny that a mod's account was used to spam.

Simps, it was hilarious that Stu's was the account that got breached and he took some stick about it. Image

The thing is Si, with the site keep crashing it wouldn't be as an attractive proposition for someone to buy.
However now it's sitting on a brand new server and running as fast as it ever has it may well be a more attractive purchase for someone.

the sale sanario as been going on for to long now. I was all for the push for site supporters ect, but now as times dragging on and dave as made no changes to the site to gain income and no decision as been made on the sale im starting to agree with the people who haven't paid purely on the grounds of at the mo they don't know what they will be paying for. If Dave kept the site and kept it running as it is then they are getting a bargain for a tenna, but if dave sells and some idiot takes over and destroys the site then its a tenna wasted. Its like the lindholme match, im in 2 minds to fish it or not as i don't mind giving Dave 15/ 20 quid ect but i would be unsure about giving it to a new owner who i don't know or haven't seen what hes got to offer.

The problem is Si, that to make the changes requires a large chunk of time devoted to it, and at the moment with the amount of work Dave has on with his 2 businesses that earn him his living, he can't afford to take that time.
Realistically I feel the website now needs to bring in enough to pay someone a wage to run it, or it won't be able to continue in its present form for much longer. :(

MDs was one of the very first good websites on the internet. Similar atmosphere and a few people like on here. There was others but they were clicky and full of rubbish and not the same atmosphere that MDs had.

If it wasnt for MDs i would not of met Si, Mugger, Webbo, Mitch, Dai, Geoff, Clive, Trogg, Stu, DTF, Al, Tony, Si, Keith and a few others that have become friends- rather than fishing buddys. Probably met at a guess 150+ new people through MDs since it started. I think i joined in 2002. :)

Its like if Si did not have the time and money to keep these forums going every month, by peoples contributions and his pocket- something would have to happen. I never used to know just how much time Admin do behind the scenes. But now i know 1 problem on a website/forum can take hours to fix, ive seen Si up till all hours not coming to bed to sort things for websites/forums- all for you people the viewers.

On MDs 8460 of 13387 Members have made 158458 posts within 15639 topics in 25 forums since 2001 or 2002.

On here Our users have made 50832 Posts within 3757 Topics. We have 295 registered members.

For alot of us MDs is where alot of events and people happened. If it wasnt for MDs i wouldnt not of met Si for a start, or travelled round the UK fishing with friends. The Jinx series would not of happened, weekends out camping/fishing. And we even went on holiday and met a couple of MDs members. Image

MDs in my mind was the best site out there, as it became bigger the same questions were asked, idiots came and went. I dont spend as much time on there as i used to, but i still look most days.
