when we used to fish the hanchurch waters on the Model canal Etc... they would not let you shove a bank stick in you had to use adapters of your box legs , because the pools where rubber lined....so me thinks chukin an ice breaker in wouldntbe much help

Yeah they had a problem when they first built the Model Canal. In a nutshell the canal was not holding the water and to plug the leaks it was a very costly operation to have the venue lined, hence no bank sticks, extending legs or the like. This also applies to the odd other venue.
There was quite a comprehensive report out at one stage categorically stating that fish stock do feel some sort of stress through ice-breaking activities. I don't know whether this was proved or not. This is, I am almost certain, why he closes Heronbrook and quite a few other fisheries close as well.

Last time I fished the Loughborough canal I had an aereator............I had a bridge hole peg on a WL semi final and had little sh*ts throwing bricks at me on and off all day ;-)

sounds like a good area

You might remember then Joff that the same year as I'm on about, some kids were kicking off and a helpful angler grabbed one of them and dragged him kicking and screaming along the towpath. That was on one of the opens before the semi final.

As for the semi, I'm sure there was some copper / security guard type sat in his car on the bridge next to me. By the time this bloke put his doughnuts down and got out of his car the kid who'd bricked me had legged it.

Seem to remember your lot beat us (Ossett) on a section countback ;-)

Mick "the stud" Lodge, now there's an angler I'd back against anyone....

One of the Ossett lads met a bird in Loughborough, ended up moving in with her and the 4 kids ;-)

yes mate our canal doesn't seam to get more than a inch and a half of ice in the worest conditions as it flows a little i wouldn't think we have half a inch yet on it
