Day at Poplars

#1

Unread post by YAMO »

went to poplars on saturday with missus ' young bro.

He had 3 carp before id even begun setting up.... was amazed how well it fished.

i started off on caster and took several 1lb plus skimmers, before a shoal of crucians appeared. A 2lb tench and a succession of crucians followed before my no 8 elastic shot out. 15 mins later i banked a nice 13lb common. Went quiet a bit after but a top up of casters saw somewhere in the tange of 30 quality roach up to a 1lb. At a guess i had about 60 to 70lb in all.

Young rik, who had only ever caught small roach b4, finished up with 7 carp all between 2lb and 6lb, all on corn.

cracking day consdiering it was gale force winds and rain...

yamo, yes it is the same place. Ive never done that good off the island pegs. This time of year ive always favoured 5,11, 14, 15 thats why i asked if it was either of them.

As for the chublets coming out on peg 1, i had always know them to come off peg 18 against the far bank on the midle stump, but it was steve that told me that they had been coming off peg 1.

TK put a grueller on there in May a couple of years back............believe it or not.................
Week before warm - loads of fish movement - the surface was heaving with litterally hundreds of 4oz goldfish. Made my mind up to fish the whip and mag and sod the carpies.
Come the day..........cold, windy and manky........1 fish for a less than 3lb won it.........I framed with about 14oz (1 bite/1 fish - didn'r fish the whip needless to say given the conditions) and there was quite a few DNs
:D :D :D :D :D :D
Yet another fine Grueller. I could run a match in an aquarium and summat would go wrong :'( :'(

GT - what's the most disappointing venue you've ever fished with TK that failed to live up to expectations Image Image Image

Always done well on the island ask GT about open results last yr.

Never known chub to come off peg 1, steve has always gone on about peg 18...

Spoke to steve and may organise a few knock up matches there in the coming weeks if get enough interest. Plenty of silver fish showing.
