If you want to move into David bailey mode, Mugger is the man to ask.
However if you just want to point and shoot, there's ruck loads of 5m - 10m megapixel jobbies out there all with various functionality that if you are like me Joffie, you'll never use.........
See one you like the look of and google it - I'm sure somebody out there has done some form of review on it

Joff,
Take a look at the FinePix J series cameras. They're a doddle to use and pretty robust.

Got to agree with Mugger about the Fuji Finepix. My son bought an F10 a number of years ago and took it backpacking round Australia for 18 months. It got knocked bashed dropped and covered in sand but never let him down while most of his companions had problems with their cameras.
They do come with lots of David Bailey things you can do but remain brilliant pont and shoot cameras too. Most of the compact cameras come with a 3x zoom but I prefer something like 10x so if I were to by another one I would consider the Panasonic Lumix with a 12x zoom but then it is more expensive.

Can't beat a decent optical zoom (The more the better ) Ignore digital zoom, in effect it just crops an image to make it appear closer. Always try to shoot your photo's in as high a resolution as your camera allows, It will allow you to do so much more with a photo afterwards.
I've been thinking about changing my old Fuji S5500 for a while and I think that this FinePix S200EXR could be its replacement.

Fuji Finepix
I have always used Fuji but the last one I had (top of the range) is superb in the winter and really crap in the bright weather. I know three that do pics for the weeklies have that very same problem with Finepix.
For some reason the summer pics are a bit 'grainey' if you know what I mean.
It's a huge problem with mine and will have to get another one just for the bright weather.

I wear a digi camera out in three years belive it or not
I have a 'mint' condition Nikkon F1 SLR with two lenses, flash, (the flash is not Nikkon) and various gizmos. It was last hand built Nikkon ever made apparently.
Every time I take it in a camera shop they want to buy it off me.
I've never seen one on E Bay, only bits of them and they fetch loads of cash.
Anyone idea what it is worth; the only thing missing from it is the proper carry case. No offers I am not seeling it, just wondered what it was worth?????
