this is one match i would like to forget :-[ :-[the only people that ruin angling are anglers
the day started great 11 teams of 6 and one for spare anglers money paid and the draw was done and the banters starts in the car park Imagela les made a guest appearance and had drawn in my section and as i walked to my peg i found i had drawn next to  Imagechopped worm we are having a laugh and looking forward to the banter and p1ss take la les had already been up and put his ten pence worth in.at this point everything was great after a little maintenance on the willow tree i had drawn under with the help of chopped worm as he did'nt want any disadvantages to be used Image
Image Imagethen suddenly the phone started as other anglers got to there pegs >:( >:( >:( >:(weed weed weed weed we all had sh#t loads of weed get on with it >:(like the rest of us !!!!!!eight phone calls later the big phone call came and at this point i'd had enough Image Image two anglers couldn't fish there pegs because of boats being moored on them fare play i said move to the ends of the boats "we can't they are noise to tail and they are a sleep" at this point i could'nt think what to do as i'm two miles away i new there was no pegs up stream as the other sections joined on so i said the only way you can go is down stream and tag on at that i thought that was it  >:( >:( >:(how wrong can you be Image Image
anyway back to the clash of the titans the canal fished its head off 44 weights over 5lb  :o :o and the lowest weight 2lb 4oz
chopped worm and myself  had a peg to peg battle throughout the day but at the end i lost the battle Image but more importantly a mars bar  Image Image chopped worm had 5lb 4oz and i had 5lb 2oz  Image Imagebut the good news i've got one coming off la les Image Image

right  at the end of the match the sh#t started to hit the fan the phone calls start about these two anglers that had been moved mostly from the section they were in
several anglers said yes they could of fished at the ends or between [what could i do i'm two miles away
several anglers said the boats had moved around 10am the match didn't start until 11 am and several anglers heard them say i could quiet easily go home drawing this sh#t hole
now the biggest part of the argument and this is why i don't want to put the result on site is one of the anglers won the match [now if he'd of had 3lb none of this would of happened i'm sure]
but then back at the pub several anglers all most lynched me up against the wall [good job i'm big Image]especially anglers that had come in the money Image Image
i had to stick to my word i gave the decision for them to move yet i feel let down big time by the two anglers and the other anglers in that section that new the situation and the decision was wrong looking at what other alternative were at hand
after sitting down last night at home after the mood of the pub where everyone went early
i won't be running anymore matches after this series

Joffe,
I am sure you will reconsider what you say after the dust has settled.
I know every other crappity smack has the answer to eveything but they have much more time to consider things than we have.

How about telling (not asking) the two crappity smack involved (I couldn't give a crappity smack who they are) to peg the next round out themselves or there will be no second round.

Sometimes the anglers need to show some common sense, you aint put pegs with boats on them in on purpose so they should have sorted it, if pegs need to be closed up slightly to fit everyone in then so what.

Sorry to hear this mate.
Please do not blame yourself for things that are out of your control.
As i do not know the full facts i cannot make a comment on the situation.
But just maybe there might be a few people who owe you an apology, end of.

joff dont take it to heart .i still think u do a good job :D :D and u know running matches is always going to be a thankless task.but the anglers involved have been fishing matches for years how the match was pegged they could have fished just off there pegs..and they know it..there was no need to ring u and cause u more grief just treat it as a learning curve and when they try it again u know what to do.what ever u do joff theres always going to be moaners and theres some of the biggest moaners in this area and i think the best idea would be after the draw switch u phone off ...i hope ill be fishing joffs league next year :-* :-* :-* :-*

Mobile phones, what a pain. Dont beat yourself up Joffmeister.

Its easy to reflect with time available afterwards. Whether you made a right, a wrong or an inbetween decision, you did the best you could think of at the time and thats it. End of.  Image

I was just thinking yesterday, after a couple of trips to Evesham, what was different since I made a handful of vists back in the 70's.

The biggest thing seems ( ive only been a couple of times) that there's a better mood among the anglers. Seem better behaved somehow/less moaning/less agro than I remember. Perhaps those types have moved to the 'in' commies I thought.

So it was sort of topical for me to read what happened to you. And no one needs big aggro when they're trying to prepare for and fish their own match, or afterwards.

Another thought, would there have been aggro if money wasnt being fished for ? Just another thought.

they are not worth gettin uptight over m8 carry on doin what your doin just so long as u want to, match fishing cant afford to lose good match organisers like yourself, tried it myself at club level only lasted a year and that was enough for me ,

keep goin u know u want to really,(thats what i keep tellin the missus any way)

cheers lads and thanks but i'm not looking for a pat on the back
what worries me is when was the last time any of us looked and i mean properly looked at the rule book[the NFA rule book]i for one haven't looked at one for years and most of its ear say and past on many rules are broken every week and are just pasted bye .but at what point do you put your foot down
i would hate to disqualify anyone from a match yet others that don't run matches are quiet willing to head hunt and ask for a angler to be disqualify like on Sunday
at what point do you call someone a cheat when most of the facts are ear say or past from pillar to post
yet how many stand up and say it to the persons face i caught you cheating
it seams that the match organiser is great brilliant when running matches yet a escape goat when things go wrong before the match on Sunday i had 6or7 phone calls about weed alone yet when they got there heads around it it fished its head off and the same anglers are telling me how brilliant the canal is and forgot what they had said 5 hours earlier
everyone had a spare peg on Sunday yet one or two said the sections were too big and some parts of the section can't compete with other parts of the section
and thats the everyday scenario week in week out on top of doing the team sheet doing the booking doing the results its just not worth it
and like steve toone said"now you know why i stopped doing it"

and the one rule that gets on my wick that nobody seams to realize is if you are on the scales then you are automaticly the steward for the next 5 hours of your section which includes start and the finishing whistle of the match

right no more phone calls no more slagging off anglers [friends] whats done is done and won't be changed end of
the section will NOT be in on the next round and feel free to check the canal for boats before you come to the draw as i will be busy doing the draw !!!!!!!!!!!
stewards will have the final say in every section and any angler that disagrees with there decision might as well not fish
stewards will start and end the match
if stewards come back with any complaints about anglers a decison WILL BE MADE by myself and two others that help run the league WETHER the angler should be disqualifed or not
and that will be the end of the matter
tuff rules but thats how you want it thats what you'l get
this is the end of this topic NO MORE PHONE CALLS >:( >:( >:(

It might be worth remembering that if the matches are fished to (quote NFA Rules) perhaps all those that used mobile phones should have been disqualified.

There wouldn't have been too many complaints then.

Mind you Joff from what I've heard some of them don't need mobile phones Image Image Image Image
