CURSE MATCH - Jubilee Pool

Lay there thinking musn’t go back to sleep, gotta get up in a minute.
Checked the time…5.11am. I’d dreamt the alarm had gone off !

Arrived at the venue at 6.00am, except I didn’t. Was still dreaming.  :-?

Late night and not a lot of sleep saw me on my way to a smashing pool.
Lots to learn about these places, not least to beef up my gear. Lost loads of fish under the trees. T’internet says it’s full of pound carp.
Well a few of ’em have grown on.  Image

All in all I loved it, learnt a lot and there’s plenty of scope for that.

And there’s always something going on.

Inside the first ten and it’s a thumping CRACK along the bank as Harry911 does his no4 on a fish. Section surfaces in front of KOD and he spears the end with his own pole, a feat worthy of Zorro himself. Plays the fish some more (!) , gets snagged and results in a stalemate. Just aa well, no argument as to who weighs it in. ::)

Tommy Cooper bedazzles everyone in his Christian Dior fishing shirt, no less.

Richard C loses his top kit and swims for it.

Haha bemoans he should have ‘done a ton’ and blames it all on a dodgey Chicken Tikka.

The saga continues.

We’re well through the fixtures already, can hardly believe it.
On the Trent next, can’t wait.  :D

There were loads of suspects... and plenty of bushes.

I had this beauty ...

Left my heavy line in a bag i'd used for the Severn. >:( Only had .16 and it wasn't enough. They took some shifting away from that and I could only get the smaller ones out. If i'd used my lighter pole, it would be a pile of splinters by now.

Yeah I know what you mean. After 2 days of fishing I only took 3 pictures  :-[ 1 decent one and the other 2 were crap.
Need to get a new camera and then maybe I would take more.

Good write Mark thanks. Have to agree about line strength - I fished 4.6 bottom - and had a tree just to my right. I fished 4 sections, just underneath a branch, was catching small roach and perch from the off on 16 wide gape hook, and someone said they were hook shy! Then suddenly the laccy streamed out and it was under the tree before I could put another section on. After a struggle I got the fish out and under my feet, a carp 2-3 lb.
I made a grab for my landing net - mistake!! Said carp snagged me under the bank.
    Image

More bits and a decent perch 2 small carp weighing ounces then a carp of around 3lbs was in the net.
I quickly baited up and dropped back in same place.
                                 :)
Give it time to settle I think- just pouring hot water into cup when away it goes again - one of marks monsters - I play it 3-4 minutes it goes on a run and rhe hook pulls out - oh well.

The time flew by then the laccy streamed again this time the fish never stopped and the hook length went.

I had another 3pounder and enjoyed my day nice to be catching fish.      :) :) :)
