after getting over the shock of only paying 50p for a mug of tea and a £1 for a bacon butty :o :o it was off to the canal and map in hand to help find the section Imagealmost spot on bill Image Imageas we pulled up and got the gear out then walked 400yards to the canal before the pegs started ::) ::)the first site of the canal was dodge sitting on a right fly-er Imageprobably the best roach peg on the canal Imageand matters got worse when i looked above dodge to see lloydy on the next peg Imageall you could hear was mars bar talk "should we have a multi pack on this one" lloydy said to dodge Image Imageas i was on the bridge i asked about my peg Image Imageyou could get 5lb but you won't win a penny with that was the answer Image Imagebut i must admit it looked good to me but perry one of the locals had drawn a boat in fact the only boat our side of the canal Imageand pete marlow had drawn the end peg ::) ::)another end peg
still i new i was in for a good day i had alan round next to me and he's forgot more about fishing canal than i'l ever know Imageas it happened the canal roach seamed to be hard to catch either spawning or cleaning themselves off they just didn't want to feed Image Imagei weighed 2lb 11oz of roach for second in the five peg sections and had to catch at 16mtrs :-[not done that for a long time. anyway perry with 3 mins left had a 4lb chub to take the section along with some bits Image Imagebut on the bright side i'd won a mars bar off alan and stef either side of me Image Imagewell stef really didn't know what we were on about :D :D as i walked back to the bridge where dodge and lloydy had fought it out the news had already come down the tow path Imagethat dodge had beat lloydy and lloydy was now smashing the stingers down with his top three's Image Imageit all came out back at the sailing club and dodge was proud as punch as he lifted the mars bar up in the air Image Image

Yeah, I know that peg joff.
You have to use a really heavy plummet there or you get an inaccurate reading.
You were probably dropping it on top of the backs of all the roach.

Take a long last loving look at you pole Dodge.

One of our guys drew the red bush in that match I did two years back. He spent three hours playing carp, weighed in just over one ounce and nearly threw his box in at the end of the match. He reckoned the carp had got the rest of his gear he may as well give 'em his box as well Image Image
