Went down little onn at about 11.30 today to bury a few demons, whilst this stretch of canal is allegedly prolific id never done any good here in matches or pleasure fishing.

chose a peg before the power lines opposite some brambles.

Decided on 2 rigs, one for the track with caster and punch and one for far bank on caster.
First chuck on the punch in the track had a minute roach, but spent the next 5 minutes picking up my casters after a gust of wind sent everything all over the shop. No bites on far line on first look.

After a brief storm, i had a few pongos in track and kept feeding far line. Another pongo followed by a nice roach of about 8oz and a stripey of about 8oz.

Another quiet spell, which included 6 boats in a procession.

Then at about 1pm, i hooked a nice fish in the track, a bonus bream of about 2lb, 3 skimmers followed all of about 10oz and another bream pushing 2lb. By this time i moved up to a bigger hook and missed a few perfect bites. Kept feedin far bank line and was determined to catch there in last hour. Had another skimmer, then bumped a nice fish and it went dead. Another boat later i found a few pongos again, but the bream had gone.

Time for far bank rig, first drop in, a gust of wind blew my pole and rig into brambles.. rig 1 gone. had 2 lightning bites thereafter, and missed em both, maybe i have got a bit of zorro in me. Third time lucky tho,out came the latex 12,fish on. the prob here was a boat was coming, and i had to rush the fish, in my excitement i perhaps put too much pressure on and the fish slipped the hook. The people in the boat were fascinated as to why id lost it and almost came to a stop in my swim to ask me( the words mud churning nosey sods came to mind)

Next chuck missed a bite before a biteless half hour, moved up to double caster and caught a lovely roach about 14oz, but still no chub. I upped the feed, and this worked as out came the laccy again. This time he weren't getting away, and i netted a lovely conditioned chub of about 4lbs. wHAT A time to catch my first canal chub. Then the phone rang, it was mark stanaway, reported my catch(dunno if he heard me as my signal was so bad on that old phone).

Back to fishing, spotted more bubbles coming up in the track, but no bites followed and went back across looking for chub no 2.Straight away i missed a bite before i tempted another chub of about a pound. I then suffered a biteless last half hour.

Really enjoyed today burying a few demons. This burying demons is part of a new feature.
In Next week's feature Tk will fish blackfords reservoir at gailey and sack up to bury another demon. The week after we will be waggler fishing with mark stanaway on the river avon, followed by brambles fishing with brian bradley and geoff will be chopped worm fishing in cashmore's corner.

Enjoyable reading mate Image
If you want to catch some big chub, go up woodbank lane in Penkridge just to the right of the bridge. You would love it.
Time for you to get a digital camera too so we can have some nice pictures too look at :)

Well done, sounds like you had a better day than me and Si :D

Hi - take the digi out on next outing Image
Aint having a pop, but you've got to exorcise the ghosts on a crap peg, not on the flyers. Well that's my theory cuss I've never drawn anywhere before or after the cables :D so I practise the crap pegs deliberately.
Any probs finding Holts in Stafford to pick up your day ticket? HAHA
Seriously though good write up Yamo..............and dont forget your double bishbosh layout on Sat - 6 sovs for SS and 20 sovs for the Garbolino Clubman match Image Image Image

Yeah mate. I was going to go today, but I couldn't stand another day in the rain and I didn't want to get my gear wet for tomorrow :D

Click HERE for a map on where it is.
You park on the bridge and you fish 50 meters either side of the bridge, you will see where to fish ;)
