Sorry gents. I don't understand.
On Sunday, the cream de la cream of angling teams will be fishing. All teams have practiced. The venue may not suit all. The draw will see off some and others may think that they can win on the day. I know how I have felt in the past!
Then a "random draw" has included a team that is good on the cut. If they do it on the day, regardless of history, then they deserve to go to the final. DNW did not ask for it and did not get special dispensation. It is by extra-ordinary circumstances. They can win and can also crash as we saw on the Warwickshire ATWL. So what!
My point is "Was the correct procedure taken to make up the teams?"
If there was a written procedure, then has it been followed? If this is a "first", then it sounds to me that (so long as someone can verify the process) Ken has done the best thing in his opinion and followed the fairest way he saw fit!
I think that any match organiser can understand what I am trying say. My option would be to talk to every team captain and get him to agree to one of a number of options that could be taken in such a short space of time. But I do not run the ATWL Semi's.
In the end, you and I leave ourselves wide open to this type of problem because we do not address problems until they happen!
I would be happy to fish against DNW. It's a challenge and that is what match fishing is about.
Good luck!
