Well as my freezer is empty of hemp I decided to have a cooking session today. After soaking for 48 hours I ended up with 10 2pint bags of hemp and 5 of tares. Image

How long will that last? The tares should last through the summer but 20 pints of hemp will be gone in 6 to 8 trips. I only have a gallon left up the garage so its off to the feed suppliers for another 30 kilo soon.

Do you guys up in the midlands use much hemp? I never go anywhere without at least 2 pints and more often 4 pints in summer, Mugger has been known to throw 3 pints in each margin and then ignoring it for a couple of hours. Image

Carp Love hemp, and if the bottom is silty it's a bonus. ;)
If they start ripping up the bottom they tend to bury the hemp, making them get their heads down harder to get to it.

It can be a supreme holding bait IMO. Image

Depends on the venue Davec - not allowed on a number of fisheries around here

Worth taking a bit on our cut - new forum member Bill was having one a chuck on Sunday up there - nice stampers Image

Never used the amounts that Mugger appears to get thru, or you for that matter :D when it's allowed on the 'commercials' round here.

My experience of putting a 'fair bit in' - but then again what do I know as I just can't catch carp - tends to tie in with other comments I've heard 'round here' that the fish become uncatchable as they become totally preoccupied with the stuff..........come to think of it, had the same problem with vitalin last year Image

It's obviously working for you guys though or you wouldn't do it - perhaps the difference is that we don't fish so heavily stocked waters Image
