i want to know does anybody know who made the first ever pole and what was it called and the lenth and who had it been asked alot of times and no answer and when were they first seen on the big internations and where no prizes sorry

id say a cave man made the first pole and it was either called stick or branch with a bit of animal gut made thin to use as line. Its length was as long as the stick he found was and the first internation was probably when he bumped into so poles trying to steal his job

Me's quite right what he says about poles, they came about well before any rods.
As kids the only poles we had available were made from bamboo and were quite heavy. They came in sections as they do today and I think you could buy a 15 feet or an 18 feet jobbie. They tended to be used long lining; the tip section used to bend quite alarmingly. It was great fun fishing on the cuts with these until you hooked a tench!
I think Shakespeare made the very first 'part carbon' pole; it may have been called Invicta or something similar. In it's day it was very expensive but was different from today as you had a lot more sections with it and you could fish at more different lengths. It was very heavy though.
I think the first 'part carbon' rod was made by either Rodrill or Auger.
I may have to be corrected on some of this info but that is how I remember it.
