right i've been thinking the future of match angling looks to be getting worse rather than better and will have a knock on effect with sponsorship for teams if we are not careful we are all moaning about the lack of matches or matches clashing or leagues clashing you'd like to fish it but cant because your fishing another
STOP RIGHT THERE match fishing needs a massive rethink and its not going to happen over night maybe not for a whole year
what we need is a board of organisers from around the country north south east and west some to do saturdays and some to do sunday we need a united match calendar and this is where i mean a whole year away team and league matches need to state how many anglers in a team should they be 3,5,6,8,or 10
I'm sure if we mixed and matched venues say river, canal, lake and commercial this would be far better and perhaps in a B/J league have canal and lake all so we don't get into the same rut that we are in now
this is going to take time and a lot of working out but if we don't start soon none of us will be fishing decent matches
its easy to sit back and watch the sport go downhill
what do you think Image

People dont want to travel anymore that is becoming more apparent, the best chance of big matches now is for local organisers to run a league with each organisers water being used, this way the regulars off each venue will probably fish league and you dont need to pressurise one stretch of water meaning better fishing for all Image

I think that may be due to it being run in close season Bill, there are more people stop fishing than you think. I don't think there is an easy solution anglers seem not to want to travel but when a good local league is run they dont turn up. Strange people anglers Image Image

team wise i think sponsorship will finish before long i'l keep running the summer league and increase the amount of rounds so we have proper matches every other week its only leicester and trentmen that have other team commitments in our league and thats up to us to sort out Image

I can understand where Bob is coming from.
I've virtually called it a day; I don't want another 'moaning winter' like last year.
Why don't these 'so called' top anglers accept the fact that they maybe to blame themselves for getting it wrong.
It is always the same ones that moan; maybe they simply can not afford to be there.
I preferred the old days of much harder fishing but no moaning.

When i first fished wolves aa matches there were 60 to 100 anglers every week and 4lb was a megga weight, now they get 15 to 30 and 7lb is probably an average weight Image Image Image
