what a day i mean afternoon ,i sat in the office more or less had done the paper work.i had just picked up my cup of tea and looked out the window

:ocold but sunny and a lovely blue sky ::) ::)just right for a bit of fishing
so off i when in my line of business you have to grab it when you can

and i'm always ready with some spare kit my old box that i keep my river gear in a rod reel keepnet landing net and bait

sometimes i think i would be better taking this gear on the winter leagues instead of poles feeder rods, bomb rods and all the bait you can carry.
anyway off to the greens,not a long walk so from shop to bank 30 minutes

the section has fished its head off on the last winter league with 9lb being the last weight.so the old stick float went up and caster was the bait 5 no4 stick went down a dream and it wasn't long before the first roach was in the net .i had about a pint and a half of casters so i could feed as much as i wanted to do,and i find with fishing for only about three hours its hit or miss. but yesterday was a good bagging day roach after roach 4oz to 10oz the sun was quiet warm on my back

lee phoned me right in the middle of bagging so i put my rod down and had a chat

when suddenly the float shot under down the side and i found myself playing a tench

by this time lee was crying

"i'm having the day of off tomorrow"

to cut the story down i took another tench from down the side plus a lot more roach.as the light started to go the funniest thing happened a pike took a roach and as i wasn't in a match i played it to get it out and have a look just as i was going to net it[3lb fish] another pike took the pike i'd hooked and slid a third of the way up the pike i was just about to net

all three fish were in my net

and the funny thing about it,the second pike was no bigger than 5lb

the bloke down stream of me couldn't believe it as we parted them and returned them alive

it just shows even getting out for three hours how good fishing is

I rember catching two small roach on the same hook on the Severn at Worcester.

About six years Nige Bull drew a section on Boa Island (R Erne). I had fished this section quite a bit and knew the pegs there that year. He hadn't a clue where it was so I jumped in with him as I had drawn there as well. I knew his peg was heaving with perch and mine was more of a mixed jobbie. We drew next to each other but I was on another bank virtually opposite him, within easy reach of a natter.
I told him that he would probably sack up with perch and he really started bagging after half an hour or so. Within these early fish he had two on the same hook and they were 6-10 oz each.
Bully picked up quite a few expletives off me that day.

I landed a perch of about 6oz on the Tees last year and 2 more of it`s mates swam into my landing net following it

I wasn`t complaining

Yeah, seen that happen a few times with perch and funnily enough with barbel on the Severn.
Forgot about this one but I fished a match on the Newport Canal years ago and was 'playing' this perch all of 2 oz on 2s elastic, believe it or not this tench followed it into the landing net.
The tench was was about 2 lb. Needles to say I put it back, - like crappity smack I did

Planty had two gudgeon on one hook the day he caught 1026, 1 had taken it passed it through the gill and another had it

1st chuck at patshull 3 years ago i had 2 3lb bream i hooked a fish and as i reeled it in i got hold of a rig that had broke off from some1 and there was a bream on that too!

i won the match by 2lb!!

Not too long ago this young crappity smack by me nearly disappeared over the crappity smack hedge. He had some kind of flying machine in his hands.

One of the National Championships, in recent years (OK the 80s) which had loads of dry nets was on the Ancholme at Brigg. One of our lads hooked an Arlesley bomb in the actual ring and there was a bream hanging on the end of this broken rig. He never saw a bite but picked up a wedge for that!! What are the odds of that?

Bill I did that on a superleague match on the Huntspill this summer! I cracked off a feeder on a cast and about an hour later re hooked it in the swivel and there was a 6oz skimmer attactched!! it was probably the only time I put two casts in the same place all day!

Chavey,
I like them sort of curios.
When I had two roach on the same hook at Worcester (River Severn) one was liphooked perfectly, the other was hooked in lip too but lip first with the rest of the hook coming of of its mouth.
It wasn't in a match though.
