I have used the same hooks for the last 15 years. Recently, I have increased the size I use but cannot get on with other hook types. I did try a Shakey blokes reccommendation but it cost me the section! What do you use on the long pole? :)

I kno i don't catch many fish {p.s thanks for the spankin at nuneaton bros Image }

but the ones i do manage to hook i don't tend to lose, if your talkin in terms of bworm and joker i would say the kamasan b590 takes some beating, most people i talk to use them and they seem to work for all of them Image

I also use B590's. Is there any hook better for the joker? I have stepped up to a 20/22 and use this for the worm also.

I actually find it harder to hook joker on the larger hook and have started nipping the barb to prevent damaging the bait. I have found no concerns doing this.

Does confidence play a large part with this, or is it just down to the size of hook and the presentation of the bait?

Aye up Bros,

Aren't your hooks a bit rusty after using them for 15 years!
Nowt wrong with B590s, plenty use them very successfully.
If you fancy a change try the Fox MP1's, they are the same as the old IM1. They are possibly not as strong as the B590's but finer and a really good for hooking bloodworm and joker; even an old fart like me can hook the baits without damaging them. Image Image

If there's one thing i've learnt in fishing its that confidence in what your doing is everything from hooks to feeding, if something works don't change it, and Bill's right the im1's can be kinder to the bait while hooking it, but can be a little delicate, so i would use these in the harder situations.
