lee you see thats another problem ken can  decide (potentialy) who's going  to be in semis and change borders to suit i.e who fish'e against who. the old way the league winner had the choice .say for exsample our team are a strong worm/joker squad if we won  we would pick the canal semi with joker in now there will be one semi were.( no choice) im sure its not a mini league

Ive followed the posts on the Go Fishing site and Ken seems to be making a good effort to answer everyones questions. Hopefully everything will be cleared up soon. Remember, we all want a good ATWL to fish rather than none at all!

Jon, we still dont 100% know where the final is we dont know the format for semi finals we dont know the regions, i dont call this answering the questions, nearly every answer i've read has skirted round the question.

Ken`s last post on the AT Go fishing site almost answered the question about where the final is going to take place Lloydy ::)

I think AT and Ken Wade are enjoying the publicity that has been created, i am fed up with it for sure. It is totally the wrong way to get teams / anglers onboard with the situation and is creating too much negativity.
The sooner AT come clean the better Image

Or are they making it up as they go along ????

I think what we need is clarification on a number of questions.

The article last week in the magazine seemed to contradict what the letter to the league secretaries said.

1. Is the final going to be on the Nene at Peterborough. If if is on Cudmore the day after Fisho then certain teams have had this information months before any one else which gives the a major advantage when the team sheets go in.

2. The regions for the semi finals need publishing, not specific venues. I personally think it will be a good idea for the final to include a fair share of regions in the final. the confusion is where the regions are....I would think will it be governed by amounts in certain areas.

One problem i see with the top two  teams from each division going into the same regional semi is that it could be the same teams fishing against each other every year.

Whatever happens Ken and Angling times will not be able to satisfy every teams wishes.

Every year i wait for October to come to start the winter league, this year i feel a little less optimistic.

I asked the question to Ken and his reply was

kenw says:
Re: 2008/9 Angling Times Team Championship

Hi Lee,

The semi finals will be as before, one off matches but should be more local. I do not know where this mini league rumour came from, a team called today to question me on it too.

It is hoped to have 6 around the country, 2 x North, 2 x Mids, 2 x South.

We can't work out the exact placing because we do not yet know how many leagues are running.

Some good news though two new leagues have been confirmed today.

Cheers

I asked Ken for clarification on a few things, below is his reply, i think it clears a number of issues.

Ok.

There is now a £60 team entry fee, which I would like to be paid up front or £10 per team per match, or £1 per angler per match. I did the split to help the so called "smaller teams". However, I fish for a smaller team, we have (I think 14 in our squad) thats £4+ a man, which I am told will be collected at the team meeting before the first round. A little painfull as there are other team payments to be made, but its job done. Thats £4 to fish the six biggest and best matches in the area over the next three months, thats not tooooooo bad is it.

I do understand a lot of the problem was not the amount but the steep increase, It probably should have gone up year on year and we would now be at the same figure.

Over the last three years and last season inparticular teams kept onto me about the traveling to semi venue's. I hope I have come up with the answer. It will not please all but I do think its a viable compramise.

There will now be 6 semi finals, two in the North, two in the Mids and two in the South. We will try and keep them as even a split as possible but that will depend on the number of leagues etc.

At present the top two teams go through to the same semi in their area. The top three teams from each semi go through to the final.

I hope that is clear, again, please feel free to comment, but its my busy time now so I will not be able answer and questions you may have right away.

Cheers

Yes, your right Joff,
Jackie has been keeping an eye on things :D

I am sorry to hear you are losing a couple of teams, who are they?. I hear one is NE baits but didn't they fold late season?

I believe in the Team Champs, its a cracking event and I and Angling Times want all teams, I reiterate ALL TEAMS in the event, big, small, little or large.
As soon as we get the forms back from the league's we can work out the semi's.
This is my last post on this site and we will not be on it again, not even to have a look at what you are saying Joff :D
You know my phone number, e-mail or how to contact me via the A/T web site if you have any more questions, but as dogde3 says lets put it to bed,
sweet dreams
Ken Wade ;)

I would have thought 136 posts (most of them unhappy) would tell the powers to be that all is not well with this topic. Image Image Image Image
