Not my 'guestimate' Chockie Munster. Your suggested weight was my initial thought too when I saw it today, but I'm 'reliably' informed that the picture doesnt do the fish justice re depth and body mass and the consensus of opinion of CT & MGB was that it was a low 20

Guess we'll never know unless it puts in an appearance again on a TK grueller ;)

Not really because the the fish that in that 18inch landing net below is at least 22 inches long and only weighed 12lb 14oz and you mentioned on MD's that that other carp was 18inches long. Fair enough it looks a bit deeper but not 6-7lb's worth of deepness

Thats only my opinion of course. As normal I could be wrong.
Still a cracking fish whatever it weighed

Its better than trying to find a 6lb'er in a 22 inch net isn't it Dave

I prefer to have the fishes mouth up by the ring of the net, easier to unhook.....

I have got a 20 inch net in the shed but its harder to push through the water, therefore making it harder to land a fighting fish

You stick to your specimen net mate and I will stick to my 18 incher

You've got me there Si..............I've retraced my steps and cant find no mention - I aint got a clue how long it was

Still anyway..........5, 15 or 25lb - its still a cracking fish out the cut

Simple...Colins fish is a hell of a lot heavier than the one in your landing net.

I think it's over 20lb.

Really. Didn't say It wasn't... I implied it was about the same size. It certainly does not look 7lb bigger

Its a fantastic fish and i bet the angler who caught it is well chuffed

i know i would be. Canal carp in my experience usually weigh heavier than they look and are usually a lot thicker in girth than commercial fishery caught carp ....... its a bit difficult to tell off the picture, but i would say its about 16-17 lb

Its the photo's which do not do the fish justice it was at least 20lb
i will upload anoth pic where you can see the fish the full lenght of my towel
