Imagine the scenario; there is an international match on a narrow canal. The venue is your usual mix of canal fish plus of course big fish too. The match is in August with no bloodworm and joker allowed.
Going back in time as long as you need what would be your England team, that is five anglers and a manager.
The anglers/managers don't have to be alive.
The purpose of this is for interest and I am keen to hear all your views come whatever.

When you sit and think about it you could pick any 5 from about 20, different areas and generations also come into it, i'm suprised bill didn't pick st peter as i'm sure they were in the same team
At the end of the day this is all opinion and nowt else; interesting to hear you views though. Must admit I have a few reservations about the Rentmen selection!!!

I opted for Pete Hargreaves, Ok Derek Young may well have set three canal records but what didn't Pete Hargreaves win that he entered?

some very good Trentmen anglers and they would be difficult to beat...
Why would you include Jason Scrivener over the likes of Steve Wollard, Sam Perkins, Rob Perkins, lee Richmond..etc etc..
I've seen Jason fish a few times and without his record of drawing flyers he is one of the poorer Trentmen...i'd have Mad Dog Madeley in front of Jason.
