Why a preference for B512s for skimmers............or is it skimmers over a certain stamp?

Good topic this...everyone will have their own preferences wiv hook patterns, some of our lads me included have been using sensas bronze 3530`s sizes 26 to 22 they are brilliant joker hooks ie very sharp & fine wire and will handle bonus fish, they also come in packets of 8s in hooks to nylon tied to 0.06 sensas feeling line called montage competition, think they retail at around £3. For bloodworm fishing i use green gammas barbless purlely for speed fishing they are also very good bream/skimmer hook in the bigger sizes ie 20s 18s wiv multiple bloodworm hookbaits being widegape.... Hi Ian
24s and 26s are the size i use i take it you can get hold of them if they are in short supply as many as you can if readily available 10 packs of each will keep me going for a bit
was going to give them a go on squatt in the summer do you think they will be suitable was using mp1s but trashed to many during the match when catching gudgeon and have been bumping quite a few perch

I don't think you can beat a 26 or 24 Image IM1 or Fox MP1 (same hook aren't they?) for joker fishing. Or squatts, or punch in the larger sizes. If you have trouble with these bending The drennan polemaster competition hooks are stronger. These used to be called team england super carbon canal. These are all long shanked. If you want a wider gaped hook the the green Gamakatsus are the hook. Mind you the newer ones seem a lot thicker than the originals. An alternative to the green gamas is a Milo P175 which is the same shape as the gamma but black in colour and seem a little finer.

Chavey.
I used to use the IM-1's but found they became brittle and started breaking on the  bend, the MP-1b's are better (even though they seem like the same hook) but i only use them for small roach now because i kept pulling out of better stamp fish, i think they could be springing open.

Saying that i used some last week with very very light laccies and didn't have any problems.

The MP-1B's are barbed and barbless, the barbed ones have a tiny barb which doesn't burst the joker anyway so apart from unhooking i cant see any benefit of using barbless unless the joker is small.
