At the end of the day T K you have to be realistic in as much as the stamp of carp you,re going to encounter, depth of water, am i in a snag pit and time of year etc. Dont concerne yourself too much about the odd zoo creatures that have been hooked or maybe lurkin. I find if i play things too safe and overstep my gear i do loose out on some good sport. I,m not sure that heavier guage hooks matter too much if you,re fishing the hair rig for instance on the method or bomb but for open water pole and waggler fishing and no snags a lighter wire hook e.g PR 21 for the corn or meat would be an excellent choice. If you compare that to a Raptor T6 you,ll see what i mean. Having said that Hooks are a personal thing and as the user you have to have confidence in your equipment. There,s loads to choose from, just ask any of the lads that fish the commercials regularly what they,re using.
My personal choices are PR21s, PR27s, and Drennan Star points for mid season and later on in the year Maver Eagles and tubertinis. not everyone will agree with that but has i said its personal.

Spose compared to a bloodworm hook they do look a bit aggresive mate. ;
But not catchin is a broad issue and more details are needed. It may be that you are crap sorry, approaching it wrong, or it maybe just your Aftershave.

Tell ya what T K, you post a thread on how you typically set out your stall on a commercial of your choice with all the bait and rig details plus the reasons for your chioces and me and the lads will chew over it and see if we cant set ya straight and get ya catchin. If we cant can you make a list out of your gear and i,ll try n sell it for ya,
