Had one of those days yesterday......think TK would of been proud of me
I havent fished that particular stretch of the bridgy for donkeys years and forgot how deep it is...6-7ft from 2mtrs to 13mtrs shelving uo to 5ft at 14.5 mtrs. Its a very long walk to my peg 31 so i only had about 35 mins to set up and get sorted....shock horror when i plumbed up,my usual bread rigs were next to useless . I had to make up a couple of rigs quickly , a Trabucco Ultimate 1 4x16 strung out with no 10s & 11s and a Sensas Jean Francois 0.6 with an olivette.I decided to follow suit with Drennan NW Albert Malcomson who was on peg 29 and concentrate at 6 & 7mtrs as ther were small roach topping everywhere !! But i had brought no squatts & no groundbait.....i am a numpty.
5 minutes after the all in i was just about ready and potted two full cups of liccy in at 6 & 7 mtrs. First put in, a slight dip on the float so i lifted into it only to feel that horrible solid feeling of a very large snag.Through rushing and not plumbing up properly i had fed right on top of a snag, i eventually weighed in 3lb odd of small roach caught at 13 mtrs fishing bread when it was an out and out squatt jobbie.
TK you havent been up to Manchester recently have you

This will be my last post about the Bridgy !!! coz i aint going again
We were supposed to be fishing the scapyard section very close to castlefields and the city center of Manchester...... its solid !!! A few lads had been up in the week and caught close to double figures of roach and small skimmers and popeyes (silver bream) in just 3 hrs. At the draw this was decided against because its too dangerous ......vehicles arent safe and anglers are subject to just about anything.....one was shot a couple of years ago .
so we were back on the same pegs as last week wonderful !! To cut a long story short we had a monsoon in Manchester today......another million boats all comfortably breaking the speed limit..... and i broke my no 5 saction after half an hour
Packed up fcucked off....... early bath, dont know the result. Think i will spend the rest of the summer watching my lad play cricket.

At the end of the day Dodge it's up to the match organiser to be strong!
If he had declared that those were the pegs to be fished then he should not have given the anglers an option to move it.
In my opinion there is nothing worse than getting rprepared to fish a venue only for it to be changed at the last moment unless there is no other option, ie pollution, venue closed becaause of police incident, etc etc.

Good comment lee,
It has become obvious to everyone fishing the Bridgy the fish are shoaled up in built up busy areas where there is a lot of noise, people, traffic etc.
There are a huge number of cormorants most of which are roosting on the booms in Salford quays. They have and are causing severe damage to fish stocks in the Manchester area ie Bridgewater canal, River Mersey, Manchester Ship canal and surrounding lakes and reservoirs.
Regards the Bridgy there are many sections on it that are almost devoid of fish in any numbers, they are the open areas with no cover, features and not "urban" (built up). Lads are catching very little from once prolific stretches and no one has seen or caught any stamp roach at all. It seems though that the inner city stretches are black with fish where they are safe from predation from cormorants !!
As a match angler i have always found safety in numbers, parking is a problem near the bridgy in Manchester and so is car crime in these areas, but the lads who practiced on the stretch we were supposed to fish had no problems but that was midweek when surrounding buisness premises were open etc .
I too think the match organiser should have stuck to his guns lee.......we all know you would

Just a word of warning and caution though Dodge
The area is under continuing police survelance..............
This follows reports of a shady looking character in the vicinity selling supposedly banned substances imported from abroad from the boot of a car under the cover of darkness during the winter months
