cashmores'ac match 1: sharrats farm
Bloody hell Yamo.
Welcome back down to earth from last week then
cashmores'ac match 1: sharrats farm
I'm flabbergasted at how it fished.
I know from the last time we were there, that there are a lot of small fish in the venue and ......I didnt have a bite !
A horrible downstream wind, yes, but otherwise it was a reasonable level, colour and not massively cold. I'm mystified.
Must be that bloomin curse TK keeps goin on about

Well I was going to start this thread with my personal match report..........
That was it
Just like that TV game show from the 70's
[move]BLANKETY BLANK[/move]
But know I'm totally confused reading Yamo's comments because although I didn't know the final result I was going to report (seriously) that
15 fished turned up
Drynet needs Sat Nav if you ever read this Mrs Drynet :P
And there were 11 drynets out of the 15 who fished
I had been informed that Yamo had two chub
HaHa had a chub
KOD had a skimmer
Heinzer had a roach
On a personal front....................
Set another record.....................
First time I've ever drynetted on The Trent..............and I used to fish it a fair bit in Autumn/Winter/Spring a few years back

Hard luck guys, I know how you feel after today :(

So ... five fish reported as caught above by TK, plus another
'proper' Bream, by KOD reported elsewhere.... making 6 fish in total. If there were more, its not many more.
All from somewhere in the region of 15-17 anglers.
Absolutely unbelievable, the river is much better than that.
Tempts me to join the rumour mongers and start saying theres no fish in the stretch ... but I cant believe that after our last match there.

Moonshine from another forum fished it yesterday.
It was also rock hard for his club
He told me

and
1st and 2nd came from the right when u drive down to the river, peg 12 was directly in front when u approach down the little drive way and 1st was peg 20 2nd was peg 18 3rd and 4th came from around the middle area, guy pegged down by foot bridge (down the left side )had 1 roach 4oz
The curse strikes elsewhere

sounds like i missed a realy good day tk. should,nt worry though everywhere fished crap. spent 5 hours at willow park for three fish in a peg my mate caught 40lb not four days ago, and got knocked out of the supercup. when is the next match as i would love to come up and do some spying.
cashmores'ac match 1: sharrats farm
Too right you did Ian...........glad you couldn't make it - I wouldn't have got over the guilt trip if you'd turned up with how it fished.
Our guys usually love the place.........but the curse really struck
Next match is on the Trent & Mersey at Handsacre 15th March.
Last year, same venue and week 12lb of punch roach won it with some good back up weights
Feel free to bring your gear.......don't waste your time spying on us - we're cr*p

ok i will be there tk and the teapot already told me you were crap . just did,nt believe him

Yep - it was so good of him to drop down into crap mode when he fished with us so that we didn't develop any inferiority complexes
cashmores'ac match 1: sharrats farm
the trent was the worst ive known it in years.... the wind was a deciding factor, not allowing me to fish pole..and most surprisingly no gudgeon or perch caught anywhere, 1 roach caught on feeder. where were all the fish??This stretch is normally good for minimum 5lb... i used simple stickfloat and waggler tactics and said to young shaunie 10mins in that it was gonna be a tough tough day.Was pleased i persevered and had 2 chub on stickfloat, i lost 2 other slightly bigger specimens but the only way i got a bite was on really light gear dragging bottom.. the peg i was in was covered in sunken weed mostly throughout, even though there appeared to be a hole in front of me, it was impossible to get presentation right and the river level rose as we were there by a few inches. i Had 5 bites in total, it was a real challenge.

Actually, whilst this response was made tongue in cheeck, it did set me thinking.
Do anglers (you) raise their game if in the company of a perceived 'higher' class of anglers, or those that you've never fished against before, or havent got the measure off?
Does fishing with/against a 'higher class' bring out the best in you - say similar possibly to a championship footballer having the opportunity to play in the premiership or a Deby player (no disrespect) having a chance at MU?
Is their a more intense focus? Do team mates bring out the best in you?
By the same token, if fishing in the same regular company or when nowts really at stake - apart from a brown envelope - do you sometimes slip into a 'going through the motions mode'?
I know I'm guilty at times of going through the motions and alternatively recognise if I've fished a tidy session - thats when I derive a sense of satisfaction even if I don't frame.
At the end of the day I'm certainly of the opinion that competing against differing opposition is key to the learning curve.
What's your thoughts?

How come the results were not in the paper then
The angling results section was the smallest I have seen it, everyone must have had a bad weekend

I've often wondered (NOT) what this cryptic message was supposed to convey.................. :P
Perhaps all it did was invoke the wrath of the Cashmores Curse god :o
