Just a long shot, but wondered if anyone knows this area of Ireland?
Have booked a week in June so trying to get some info. I have fished in Ireland a bit so just looking for any specific info on the area, especially if anyone knows the Woodford River/ballinamore canal, as we are staying on the banks of that watercourse. It's a canalised river there but apart from the usual info on the Irish angling websites, not sure if it's worth a go, or whether the local lakes such as Garadice would be better.
Cheers.

Not been for a while but the pegs by the locks generally cough up loads of roach.
The river there is not too wide but very deep in areas, - bit hit or miss, - it can be really good at times,
Bait farm/shop is not far away.
That is about as much as I know but there are plenty of other venues in the area. Shop in Enniskillen is always worth a look, - if there are only a couple of you ask and they will put you on somewhere near.
It's only a bit but better than nowt

The lakes around there fished there heads off last year, garadice and church opposite threw big weights up all week in the world pairs, we used the same sections the week after for a festival that we ran in the north and again the fishing was very good. It was all roach and big hybrids on pole 13m short line and feeder work for weights around 20kilo average but there was a few 30's and a couple of 40kilos through the week. There is 3 other good lakes of which the names have escaped me but again great fishing to same methods and species and within 6/7 mile. There is a big pub called the Anglers rest that many stay in, decent tackle shop joined to it and as Bill says Enniskillen is only a 25min drive if you wanted a change of scenery for a go on the Erne up north Sorry I cant help you with that local river and canal as I haven't and don't know anyone that has fished it. Plenty a good angling sport in and around where your heading though
Just cant get a draw

There used to be the odd Drennan Ulster League on the Woodford River, the weights were always OK.
They didn't use it very often.
Two years back there was an individual winter league by the main locks. It was float only ang generally won with around 20 lb of roach. Jack Tisdall ran it; he is usually in the tackle shop in Enniskillen.
The Woodford River runs across under the main road; I can only think it must mear the Shannon Erne Waterway or whatever they call it now. Think the locks must be there. Not too sure but it may be called Carridillar or something like that.
