Statement From John Middleton Re 2013 Ivan Marks Memorial

'After I walked the match stretch on the Welland yesterday it was obvious that the the river was in a poor state.

'Gin clear water and a severe weed problem along with floating rafts of weed that in some places were strung across the whole width. Experience tells me that it is not going to get any better.

In view of these adverse conditions a decision has been taken to cancel the event for this year. All cheques already received will be returned.'
