Well after a week of thinking where to put the match where we would see any trouble off the boats where many would turn up after the poor form of the canal in resent weeks it was all getting too much so i thought especially with the traveling anglers and well as the die hards i wanted them to have the best chance of catching a few fish just to show what the canal can be capable
so Brian and myself thought that the Quorns waters had received quite a lot of pressure over the last couple of weeks and thought the loughborough waters would be a better option with the added section of staples a section we rarely use because boats
but with the help of the canal trust regular checks have been carried out on boat numbers and the amount of time they are spending mooring where they shouldn't be and as you can see from the picture there must of been a fare few boats that shouldnt of been moored there
so off i went and spray painted 12 numbers on the morning only to find some pleasure anglers just starting lucky for me they said they would move to below the bridge without wetting a line
back to the pub from there and a quick head count just to see if we could drop afew pegs out needless to say this is almost impossible as anglers turn up at all times so staples swingbridge swingbridge boats and below bishops meadow lock went in and as it happened it looked like we might get the 50 mark :( but as the draw took place some with partners missing and some that just didn't turn up meant quite a few empty pegs and gaps a long with pegs i could of left out like mine
at the end it looked around 46 anglers fished with 55 pegs in the hat
still the good news it fished really well in parts condititions were good with a slight colour in the canal and mild temps apart the frost on the morning of -2

on a personal note what with running the semi final and the pairs league i have to question the effect it has on my own fishing .not making the team was a big blow ok i'm captain and yes i could of put myself in but deep down i had to be honest with myself
as for the pairs competition i think its a great fixture but after all the running around before and after is it effecting my own angling 3lb13oz 7oz DNW and 9oz is pretty poor even so its made me pullout of my own favourite match the Sensas final at packington
its now time to start to reflex as this face says it all last night at 10.15pm over a quite pint in the local

Well done joff .Its a cracking league matey but the weather has destroyed it this year.It was nice to break the pound mark as ive had a right sh!te run on there lately.
The pegs ive had would have been flyers 5 years ago.
185 ,peg4 swingbridge,240 haws,194.Thought my luck had changed yesterday when i had a 8oz skimmer first chuck on punch That was it apart from a couple of skerrits.Had another on joker later and a nice big roach.(theyre still there ?)
At least me and Darren took the Long Eaton trophy .Keep up the good work look forward to next year ?
