With the ice thawing by Thursday the canal produced a much better match for most of the anglers below peg 93 with nearly half the field catching 4lb plus.

Former world champ Tommy Pickering showed his class on peg 1 with a catch on skimmers and roach that totalled 9-14-10 on bloodworm and joker.

pegs 94 to 118 was very patchy but the rest of it fished OK.
