Winter league practice results
:-[i think the writing was on the wall when i pulled up only to see anglers getting back in there vans saying we ain't fishing that still with a quick count up we still had 70 odd fishing what ever is in the canal which is sewage is moving through the canal as the few that practiced on the scrapyard caught fish yet the lads on 260 at the other end didn't and mean didn't 7,8,9,10 fish :-[so i decided to move these sections up to the top end hoping for a few more fish ;)and to be fair i should of put the scrapyard in as well :-/still you can't start changing thing at this stage we all know its just too early for the canal or rather the weather has been the worst sort we could ever have and stems back to our winter league rounds on the river soar
yesterday i put my pole pot right down the edge and found the depth of silt is incredible that has built up over the last few months and i'm pretty sure this one reason why the fishing is so bad
i'm just hoping we just don't have any rain this week and the cold weather might just drop some of the colour out it can't make the fishing any worse can it
we only have 8 teams in this semi final so at least i have a little more room to juggle around with
i have nothing to do with the draw thats in the hands of the angling trust and will be a randam as you can get
the match will be fished 11 till 4 pm and the draw will be around 8am to 8.30 breakfasts from 7.00am
to the results
Paul bick shakespeare won the match off one of the early pegs paul had a little help catching a pound perch on bloodworm along with small perch and roach for a total of 3lb 11oz not a massive weight but quite a few in the early pegs enjoyed a few fish
2nd Ben roberts North west ben drew the duke of york bridge section again managed to break the 3lb mark with small roach and perch for 3lb 5oz almost all his fish fell to joker hook bait
3rd saw Matt hall shakespeare with 3lb 4oz 4th chris jenkinson bait-tex 2lb 9oz
5th sid baldock Quorn AS 2lb 8oz

when i say sewage i mean we have always had sewage pumped into the river for years when ever the river came up to a certain level it was a green light to start dis-placing the sewage through the river system what i think is happening now is with the sheer volume that we must get from the increased housing the chemicals used to back it down to the safe level must not be harmful to fish be its definitely effecting them making them sick or something the canal is full of quality fish yet we are catching the skirts that normally are pesky fish
its the same with the river if it was up and coloured it used to be bream city now its just odd fish

Yep just made it again Joff !!! Are you in yours ?
Not sure what's happening with the 10th man but I am sure we will have a full team for sunday. Be nice to get it over with and get back on the river/drains for the last bit of the season and catch some fish !!!!!!
