Dunno about you but I think todays goalkeepers are pretty much average in comparison with a few years back.
I sometimes wonder if there is an electric charge in the ball these days. All keepers seem to do (the foreigns anyway) is to palm the ball away.
True, they are good shot stoppers but how many times have we seen a ball palmed/part fisted away then ending up in the net. Why can't they catch the crappity smack thing?
We also have also keepers who are totally crap when it comes to defending corners.
They don't seem to dominate the area either; I suppose the closest that comes near to that is Chelski's keeper Chuck or whatever his crappity smack name is.
I honestly think Peter Schmicael was way above anything we had now.
What does the panel think ::) ::) ::)

Joe Hart had a blinder for England v Brasil on wednesday then a truely shocking performance for City on Saturday .... what can i say?
To be blunt every keeper in the premier league this season has looked average at best , they have all made plenty of howlers all season long. One thing though is that the premier league insist on using this new ball that does move in the air , we see it a lot on the slow mo replays etc etc but the overall standard of keeping is deffo average ...... just look at Liverpools Reina going walkabout at the Etihad the other week and De gea inept atempts of catching a ball from corners and set pieces Chelskis Petr Cech also done the same quite a few times

Agreed Bill and Dodge......Don' think there is a decent goalie out there now. They spend so long learning about angles and positioning, they have forgot how to catch the bloody ball. The likes of Pat Jennings and Shilts would dominate the area, and god help anybody who got in the way. And they could stop shots too

the premier league is at best average not just the goalkeepers. Man u are second rate and are just the best of a bad bunch and the rest are just dross.
And if you think the prem league is bad you should watch the championship, that is dire.
in my humble opinion of course.

What I can never understand is why keepers dive out of the way of penalties. the commentator will say he sent the keeper the wrong way--no he didnt-- the dozy pillock dived out of the way of it.
Whatever a keeper does he wont save a good penalty--but if he concentrated on the ball -and ignored the player he would save all the crap ones.
EG: Ben Foster saving Gerrards penalty--he watched the ball.

I agree Utd have been poor this year and they are 12 points clear--it dont say much for the rest.

You've been spoilt by having decent keepers at Stoke Bill, Banks, Shilton, Farmer.
