another one of that era who went AWOL was Tony Eaves .... both he and jeff were brilliant on the Avon when I first moved to Warwickshire in the early 90s.
Tony resurfaced on a couple of matches at Barford a year or so ago.

Don't think it lasted long with Mr Eves Alex, just not the same. I did not fish it much in those days when they used to catch chub, roach etc. on the wag and stick as the Trent/Dove/Derwent in my area was really good fishing. I can appreciate the skill at the time as those evesham roach and chub were far harder to catch than round our way !
I felt Tony Scott got the benefit from the avon as regards presentation and good accurate feeding which he then used to brilliant effect on the Trent aswell !!!!
Anyway I digress, the best way I could describe Jeff's fishing was cross between Mr Eves and Mr Rice !!!! somewhere in the middle. A class rod

Richie,
I remember drawing next to Tony Eves in a west mids WL match on the stretch below Luddington Manor Farm in about 1995.
The river had a good foot extra on and was pushing through a fair bit. Tony fished a ridiculously small waggler (max 3BB) compared to my 5AAA job ..... but he caught 10lb to my 5! he didn't like a lot of lead!
Next time I saw him was at Barford 2 years back when he drew next to me .... I won the match with 16 pounds and Tony had 10 oz ..... peggy!
climbing the walls here at the moment
last weekend Barford and then March cancelled, this weekend Barford and then Wye cancelled (Wye is 5 metres up this evening!!)
hope you had a good Christmas and a great New Year.

Happy New Year to You Mate
Alex, the March match was on as I fished it, about 65 on it I think. For some reason many did not turn up, but a lot of pegs chucked up a few fish. 14lb won it. It was up a bit and running hard, with colour but not chocolate.
