Used to have rowing boats on our River Sow years ago.

Don't think it's there though. Image

River Sow, opposite the old windmill on the Doxey Road, Stafford, north end of Victoria Park.

What threw me was that you couldn't see the gasworks tower but i think it was taken before that was there or when it was at its lowest, it was past that cow on the left. Pic is taken from the main road bridge by the New Inn. On the right there was a long concrete wall where there used to moor the boats as per pic. When the boats went the fishing was unbelievable, casting punch and letting it bounce in the river off the concrete wall about three feet deep, loads of roach. It is virtually all car park now where the trees are on the right. Sainsbury's is also on that site now.

The river is a trickle now and totally wrecked as a fishery of any note, it used to be fabulous for roach.
