WINTER LEAGUE FINAL
Joff, I wouldn't bet against the 2 major teams Dorkiing and Starlets being in the top 3 with Leicester or Maver Midlands as the other contenders. Do you agree?

Woodland View Rules
I totally agree with bait limits but the other list of rules are well over the top. If more anglers voted with their feet and boycotted these type of fisheries they would soon relax the rules.

Chopworm Hero, Andy Partridge now lives down in Cornwall and fishes at Whiteacres, Gwinear and Mawgan Porth in the summer. Still manages to win his fair share on commercials now as opposed to the old canal days.

Dodge, I agree with others mate, basically they are all the same coming up with election promises to get votes and then doing u turns on virtually everything. All of them are lining their own pockets and whoever got elected could not have cleared the mess up the country is in right now as a result ...

Can't disagree with you there Bill. I used to fish the Burton Joyce matches and most of those i ended up sat behind the anglers mentioned trying to learn their skills.

Don't forget John Allerton one of the best trent and river anglers and also launched a great range of alloy stem stick floats. I still have some of his original sticks but they don't see a lot of use now. Pete Warren as well http://simplematchfishing.co.uk/forum2/images/converted_files/yabbfiles ...

Is Match Fishing At An All Time Low ?
Anglers in general are a moaning lot, we all like to have a whinge from time to time regardless. As you say Lloydy there are too many that spit their dummies out rather than accepting it for what it is at the end of the day, a days fishing good or bad. http://simplematchfishing.co.uk/forum2/images ...

Another negative on some commercials is "rovers" where the angler can choose their peg. This plays even more into the hands of the venue experts and further discourages your average angler knowing he cannot compete. :(

It,s sad but true that without commercials a lot of anglers of all ages would no longer fish every weekend, but the downside is that youngsters in the main no longer possess the all round skills to fish anything other than poles. Rod and line fishing either float or feeder is a lot more skillful ...

Commercials are a means to an end. As you say they get kids interested but once they have caught ballistic F1's and carp that pull back, they are not interested in going on a canal and catching roach 30 to the pound ( i fish the bridgewater canal around Warrington !!).

Your right Chris, commercials are mainly fished by the younger generation of anglers with the older school including me prefering natural venues. If Dodge is classed as a "grandad" i dread to think what you class me as ! No sarcastic replies please

Is Match Fishing At An All Time Low ?
Joff,I fished a winter league on the T&M at middlewich on saturday and the top 3 weights were 12lb, 11lb & 10lb with an average weight of 4lb. There are only 7 teams in this league now whereas 5 years ago there were 12 teams. It is indeed sad that in the NW most anglers now live on commercials and ...
