Little Gearys. Curse match 8
In the absence of the chief scribe, heres a little report on the match.
By the time me and Daz arrived, having followed the sat nav and had a lovely tour of Forest of Arden golf complex, the cafe was busy filling a few bellies. Grabbed a quick bacon butty and a brew, then outside in the heat for the draw.
Apparently peg 13 had won the last couple of matches there, so when Tricast dipped in and drew it I feared the worst. I drew 25, which I had a feeling was the wrong bank following a couple of trips down there last year for the Supercup
Set up a tip rod, and a shallow and deep rig, and that was it, ready to go. I then realised I had left a bag on the garage floor containing all my cupping kits, toss pots and cattys
A quick chat with KOD on the next peg, and he loaned me a cupping kit and toss pot....cheers mate
Found a canal catty in my box, and settled down ready for the off. All in and a chuck over to the island with a banded 8mm pellet. 5 minutes later, tip shot round and a 12 oz pastie graced the keep net. Kept dripping 4mm pellet in at 5 metres, and cupped in some choppie/caster at 7 metres. A couple more small F1s on the tip in the next half hour, so tried pellet short and deep....nothing. Pellet short shallow....nothing. In with a worm and an immediate skimmer, about 4 oz. Same result for the next half hour, with another half dozen little skimmers. hardly net filling, but at least something going in the net regularly.
I was struggling to reach the island with the canal catty and 4mm pellets, so started to feed a couple of 8mm pellets every 5 minutes. KOD next door had caught a few on the method over to the island, but had now come inside and started to have a few, but apparently, aoart from Tricast and FK having a few on the opposite side, rumour was nobody was sacking
2 hurs in, back out with the tip, and immediate bite and fish in the net. Kept this going til half an hour from the end when I again tried shallow and had half a dozen F1s up to the final whistle
Thanks for posting the results Chris, and well done on another victory....you better build an extension for the trophy cabinet ready for next years presentation
