Hi Guys!
Not really into match fishing, more of a pleasure angler.
I gave up fishing in 2009 after my fishing buddy, my Dad, died. I went fishing a month later at Carneys in Rugeley, sat there for 45 minutes without wetting a line, packed up, went home, and sold my gear!
Sad bit out of the way!!!! :(
OK....... been fishing for donkeys years, moved to Cleethorpes 2007, became a level 1 coach in coarse and fly, moved back in 2008 ( coz my Dad was ill and I was homesick), I foster kids full time as a job.
Not looking to enter competitions, but I wouldn't mind meeting up with guys for fishing trips, sessions on commercials etc...
I am in the process of buying new kit, but a bit out of touch. I am not going to spend mega bucks and not going to refill my garage with tackle! :D
I prefer old school rod and line, I tried Pole, I was OK with it but I think I prefer a rod.
My idea is to buy a combo rod (float/Feeder) and a couple of reels. Possibly the TFG Banshee Combo. I still have some of the kids rods I had for coaching so gonna go round my Mums and sort them out for the foster kids to use.
I will probably start using Carnys again, definitely the canal ( walk down memory lane) and the pool on the Hednesford Road if anybody knows it! I did see a lot of input from guys in the Rugeley area, hence me joining this forum.
Anybody wants to PM me to setup a session or just pop around for a cup of tea and chat, you are more than welcome. Image
Regards,
Steve. Image

Well!........... been on Fleabay all afternoon looking at tackle!
What a nightmare! I ended up buying the first rod and reel I saw anyway, After 3 hours! :D :D
I got myself a TF Gear Banshee combo feeder/float rod for the commercial stuff and a TF Gear Compact reel to go with it.
I also bought floats, terminal bits and pieces etc and came in £5 over my strict budget of £100! Image
Found a few bits and pieces in my Dads old shed that didn't get sold with my other gear.
I have found an 8 metre pole, some whips (3m, 4m, 5m), and my favourite little 9 foot margin rod that I used to use on the canal!!!
Sorted the kids an 11 ft match and a 10ft feeder rod out as well!!!
I will be all set for next weekend! Image

When I used to fish it in 2006/7.... I used to use fishmeal groundbait mixed not with water but my secret ingredient ;) chuck a couple of tins of sweetcorn in with the groundbait.
put 2 pieces of corn on the hair rig, and use 2 inch PVA sausages filled with my groundbait ( hence I don't use water).
I was getting carp in double figures on the lake by the hut ( sorry forgot what it is called).
I got lazy, and instead of my carp rods, I used my trusty feeder rod.
I had loads of guys asking what I used but I never told them!  :D :D
My PB on there was 15lb and got a pic to prove it! I averaged around the 7-8lb mark.

Thanks Obi!
Oooooohhhhh...... I need to set a personal challenge methinks! 8-) :D
Now I have set myself a task of finding out whats in there, (I know the owner quite well) and seeing if my magic bait will still work!
Shame really, it had real potential for some large carp. I had a 15lb pike out of there as well, ON CARP TACKLE! I caught a small carp, and as I reeled him in, the pike said "mmmm Dinner!" A real fluke! :D
By the way...... I am there after 3pm on Friday as I am having one of the foster kids coached on his first ever wetting of a line! I was going to teach him, but from experience I have learnt " familiarity breeds contempt" and he will listen to a stranger more than to me! :)
Anybody off the forum thats there, come over and say Hi! It will be obvious who I am, I will be taking pictures on my phone for the first hour, and chilling (without a rod) in a chair for the second! :D
