TK GRUELLER SERIES MATCH 3

#1

Unread post by Simple »

Managed to get there just on time this morning, I was dreading drawing up the top end again today but lucky for me I drew peg 5.
Weather was great (NO WIND or RAIN) looked like a good morning. All the water round to peg 10 was steaming also.
I setup far side, track and margin rigs. On the all in I cupped my bait over and down the track and threw some of my secret margin bait in   :D
I started on the far side on corn and had a chub within 1 min of starting and thought whoo hoo this is ok. But the next fish took me in those bloody brambles  >:( and so did the next and the next. I thought this is no good at all so changed from black hydro to maver 12-20 plus. This stopped them running into the brambles   :D BUT I didn't get as many bites so I moved onto the track with caster and had 1 chub and 1 roach. It was going slow.
About 2 hours into the match I decided to try the margin which I had been feeding. I had setup a 0.15 line to purple hydro rig just in case. I was fishing with corn to start with and after 15 mins, not a bite.  So I put double red maggot on and dropped it in, it went down right away. It was a gudgeon which I don't mind catching.
This kept on for 15 mins and I kept getting liners so I knew something bigger was down there. The next bite, it went under and as i struck the lakky just came out of my pole and nothing was happening, I thought i was on a snag. Then my float took of towards KOD, carp on  Image Image Image
Landed him and thought he weighed about 10lbs. After that I only had 1 more roach from the margin and 1 more chub from the brambles  :(
I had a better time than last match anyway and lower numbered pegs seem to fish a lot better than the others, but its the luck of the draw I suppose.
This is the second match I have had KOD to the peg on my left, lucky I had my KOD proof pants on  :P :D

I only took 2 pictures today. The first is one of my peg. You can see KOD's pole to the left of mine, when he was striking his pole tip was nearly tickling my nose  :o :D

And this was where I had my carp from...

Enjoyable day. As ever look forward to the next one. Will probably be up the top end again next time though  :'( :'( :'(

I will leave TK to announce the results  Image

    1 2 3 4 5 6 7 TOTAL
THE WEDGE 18 16 18 52
BUM DRAW MASTER 16 20 15 51
KOD    15 12 20 47
ZORRO JEFFERY 11 18 16 45
ROY COTTERELL 14 14 17 45

HEINZER   13 10 0 23
GEOFF CASHMORE 10 0 13 23
ME     8 6 0 14
RICH CASHMORE 9 0 0 9

The Wedge moved ominously to the top with a good draw on 2, although he admitted to trashing three rigs before the off  :o on the brambles.
KOD and Simple both snared carp around the 12lb mark  whilst Zorro lost one or two.
Cotti only found out how to fish the boom (1) in the last hour. In the meantime methinks he'd fished too light as he'd been smashed up left and right.
Ginger Tom reckoned he was baggin, but all he did was moan about his HA's changing to HO's. Mind, the fact that he wasn't walking made everyone think he was baggin on a peg thats good for 4.
Bum Draw Master struggled to see his float for the sun and steam for the first couple of hours.
Young Shaunie proved that there are some fish on peg 13.
Mr V was all smiles having managed to get away from pegs 7-10.
There will be no pickie of YAMO in the gallery for match 3 as I didn't think it was fair to have 3 consecutive shots of him sulking   :D :D :D although it should have been a joyous occasion as he caught his first roach in three years of trying from the KP :D

A couple of other comments that I omitted........
Golden Balls drawing arm deserted him last match and he couldn’t face another grueller – the fear of peg 7 – 17 got to him :D
Heinzer failed to show after his Xmas p*ssup in Manchester so SS will be using his bait in the morning Image
ME was either overdosed on lemsip or couldn’t face another gudgeon so Simple took the £1 by default ;)
Geoff Cashmore drew peg15 second successive time in this series and probably about the 10th time in 12 matches. The peg is now christened Cashmore’s Corner to go along with Brian’s Brambles.
Mr V and Geoff proved there are silver fish on 14 & 15, not just gudgeon 8-)

Nice report and piccies. Well done KOD and bad luck Simon. It was a funny match for me on 14. Fished one handed for 3 hours as the sun was bang in my eyes. One hand on the pole, one hand shielding the reflection of the sun off the water, and peak of cap shielding sun direct. 8-)
Started off having 15 gobies on 3m whip, then couldnt buy a bite for 10 mins. Went over and caught more gobies. Eventually found a few silvers on caster, but missed quite a few bites with not having both hands on pole. >:(
If I draw up there again, I will be walking round the other bank and putting the brolly up Image
