a league this is turning out to be and with the weather improving by the minute so is the fishing and sheaspeare bring all the big guns now has tightened the league right up  Image Imageagain thanks to ted for getting the bait ,he must be running short himself by now
the day started off well i always go across country to pick the M1 motorway up but yesterday some unfortunate driver had left the road so i did what i could and they seamed ok just shaken up and lucky to get out ,i'd supposed to meet up with one of the lads that didn't quite know which way to go  :D :Dneedless to say he found his way
at the draw ted had put a bait limit on the amount of B/J which i thought was a good idea as the only bait we had was his with the bait sorted it was on to the draw first in the draw was bicko's mob  ::) ::)the look on bicko's face said it all  8-) 8-)where are you i asked he replied "joffmiester i can't tell you because i'm that embarrass its that good" Image Image Image Image
anyway gaz made our draw and dished me out D13  ::) ::)sounds like a end peg  Image i don't get them very often normally just bridges Image
good old bicko said that could be the peg i won the last match off Imagebut i think its 14 :-? Image Image Image at this point i didn't know if i was end peg end but one or on dazzlas peg and it didn't end there  Image Image
in the car park tony barker and myself thought we had both got it  :D :D :D :D on arrival we both marched up the tow path well tony was going twice as fast as me with his short legs Image Imageonly to find a angler sitting in-between us on a reed bed  Image Image Imageanyway back we went to fetch the gear at least i was end peg

Image
but was it dazzlas peg 30 metres away the above photo Image Image Image
or was i on it

Image

not much of a giant reed bed there  Image Image
or was it completly pegged differently and either the angler to my left or tony barker were they on it  :D :D :D :D

Image

well when the match started we would find out ,as it happened we all caught from the off everyone on that section had caught fish in the first 15 mins. we had the added pleasure of the rotary club planting 200 trees along the towpath  Image Imagelift your pole jump your pole you name it it happened
mind you i think barker liked the gallery that stood behind him Image Image Imageas his total weight for the canal league was doubled in five minutes Image Image
we had great banter all day and from all the section  ::) ::)tony  was bagging all day on small fish myself it was about waiting the fish i could catch were twice the size of tony's and when i had 3 x 12to 15oz roach one after the other even tony started to get worried
but the middle of the match let me down as soon as the sun was over my catch line it was all eye's i had decided  to feed a chopped worm line 16metres to my right it was awkward but the reed bed looked that good i thought if i'm going to catch it would be as near to that as i could go
well all though the match i feed the line and had nothing so the last hour i though i'd 5lb and probably a head of most so i fished the line to the end and boy what a finish i had 4 big boys and right on the whistle another bite  Imagebut nothing when i lifted  Image
tony had battered the match with11lb plus all small roach i managed 8lb3oz for second in the section and 4th in the match
Image

what a great league i'd missed the wigston league as the company was great on that but i must say barker scotty godfrey and bicko all make up for that  Image Image Image Image

thanks for telling me about the lane to go down pal nice n easy with trolley those gates are a pain,
I drew peg D4, this put me two pegs from Railway bridge and road bridge was told you needed to be through them on pegs D1,D2, etc my peg was on a sort of slip way and an old cut down willow  :-/ :-/ ended with 49 fish, on Blood worm / Bread.....  My wing man Macca, was fairing even worse when he rang , on a dozen or so fish, so we were away by two thirty,...........

That big reed bed in your pic Joff was where first and second came from in the Ladies national Champs a few years back Image Image Image

There was a massive turnout in that one.
