Good question and I'm sure there will be many answers. I always like to use a wire bristle to see sensitive bites. Although sometimes we look into this a bit too much because my main belief is that it's not the float that catches the fish but more the way you feed. On the local circuit around my way it was always dufill's but I've not fished for a couple of years. But tbh I think as long as you can dot the float down to read the bite then the type of float is not that critical.If fish are feeding then it wouldn't matter too much. The main thing would be to probably get the weight of float right to get presentation and also to make sure you don't go past feeding fish off bottom too quick and visa versa

Yeah I see your point so you prefer light floats with a strung out shotting patern

The last couple of years loads of match anglers have switched to the small dufill style floats for joker fishing on shallow canals. Deeper canals like the Stainy the Preston,s Magic series take some beating.

On narrow canals i used to use the old Sensas Desque green ones, with wire straight through. A bugger to shot right and you didn't want to ping a shot off mid match. Used to use Lipsal on the tip to help it stay above the water. I think iv'e still got some on winders all complete with lovely "white" shot.

On wider venues a Drennan Carbo or Trio. Something to hold on to in difficult conditions.

If it's right, it'll go under.

jean-francois took me years to get them right but still my all time favourite 0.2 0.3 on canals for fishing shallow canals i still have the preston is it pb4s

a small tip with theses floats is to use half styles as the bristle is very hard to shot exactly just one or two and then you can set the float to what you want

I've just started using a float called a
Sensas Serge on small canals.
Can't believe how good they are !
Wish I'd been using them for years.

serge is that one of the orginial bleak floats dazzla another one i have seen and is a favourite of the french is the eric float it used to be green i still have the odd one but i see they have up graded it

Yes , I think its one of the original bleak floats.
They are relatively small for the shotting capacity.
They have a fine nylon/plastic bristle and are realy easy to shot up unlike the Eric.

Don't be a girl , get some lead down.
I use them in 4x12 and 4x14 so I do think you want some bigger sizes. That's just my opinion though.

YEAH I AGREE DAZZLA 4X12 ETC YOU DO NEED SOME SMALLER SIZES FOR THOSE TRICKY LITTLE ROACH SOMETIMES

i was thinking about shallower water matey as i've my jfs for the deeper parts
