what i'd like to know is how you make the choices you make when you first see your peg
often someone will do better than the next man,so he must of fished it differently
here i've dotted 3 on the far line so one is to the left and one is middle and the other one is down the peg the same goes for the middle and inside
all you have to do is say in metres where theses dots are for what you are trying to do and cover
it just might help some anglers
for instance the last two matches i've fished i think i've given my bonus fish lines to long yet others have caught on them Image Image

X = Me
Y= lines
I stagger the lines to give them all a bit more space between them.
Staffs/Worcs Hinksford.
Centre far bank: Casters
Right Far bank: Casters
Right down track: Choppie
Left down track Choppie/casters
Over keepnet in front: squatts or bread

when i usta fish canals, i would always start off down the middle, also feeding the far bank with a few casters, the odd few squatt on the near shelf.. and see what happens from there? i wouldnt use the pole on the far bank much, as where i fished they were always a wary of it over thier heads! mostly waggler on the drop or holding bottom with double caster for the bonus fish? but on some stretch's the punch would work down the middle as would worm.

Joffs peg is about 4 1/2 feet 2 meters out. I know this from experience as it's the peg i fell in whilst trying to retrieve two sections on pole blown in in a winter match.

Brrrrrr.

:D :D

i fished a match on the k&a a few years ago and started on punch at 5m, after 40 mins refed my punch and tried my other lines, very cold day and not much hapening so went back on the punch and did ok for the rest of the match, throwing liqy in by hand,15 mins to go i realised being a bit of a numpty i had picked up the wrong rig 3 hours ago. this rig was a full 18" shallower than my punch rig, this taught me a mega lesson and it proves that roach live and feed at all depths in all weathers. intrested to here what others think?

Good observation drawbagnadine - I know of a couple of b&j anglers on 'our' cuts who rotate their far line shallow rigs over their deeper lines Image

On Sat on the punch I hooked my first 12 bites - then bite 13 was a real 'vicious' take that I missed............after experiencing this several times on a match a month or so ago I again wondered whether it was a 'liner up in the water'

I again wondered whether it was a 'liner up in the water'

So you immediately dropped your shallow rig over that line and proceeded to bag up for the rest of the match. Image Image

Or did you just wonder again and do nothing about it. Image

i always look at the anglers either side and often you can spot if they are off the bottom by the length of line from pole float to pole this is because they are working it out long before they change there rigs ;) ;) ;)
