Dark nights........
Might draw them Si not so sure about fishing em though
Dark nights........
like i said match fishing has changed, as over the last 20 yrs ive been carp fishing.. i wanted sum up to date ones. the nearest i can get to old school stlye fishing is the pellet wagg, im not into commie waters, so pole fishing for carp dont interest me, but i'll soon be going on the river now its starting to get cold, running the wagg/stick float down the track,i hope the roach/chub are still about, but im told they aint? gotta try it though. :(

Where to start? I was fortunate enough to recieve a copy of this eagerly awaited book on my Birthday 2 days ago.
Being of a certain age I have many memories of Idols that I used to look up to in my early years of fishing, and one of those Idols was Ivan Marks.
The 70's was Ivan's era when he and his Leicester AS team (The Likely Lads) ruled the roost. From 1972 Ivan had a weekly column in the Angling Times that I used to avidly read, and it's from those columns that the contents of the book are taken.
312 pages are divided up into chapters on the following.........
Match Fishing.
Fishing for England.
Tackle.
Tactics.
Bait.
Ireland.
Everything Else.
along with 16 pages of photos
The chapters contain some of those columns published in the Angling Times over an eight year period, and offer a facinating insite into Match Fishing during that era. Most importantly it offers an insite into the mind of the man who many (myself included) regard as the greatest match angler of that period and one of the all time greats.
Some will be amazed at the differences between then and now, when poles were almost unheard of, commercials didn't exist and 'Ton' bags of fish weren't dreamt of . However there are nuggets of information hidden away in the text that are as relevant to angling today as they were 4 decades ago, it's just up to the reader to take them in if they choose to.
I must admit that I couldn't put it down, but it's also one of those books that I know I'll be returning to time and again, just to dip in and out of.
Buy, beg, borrow whatever, just get a copy.
