photo's the lot great read ,its easy to forget how good Ivan was what a bloke 1000 peggers one after the other and the likely lads
1971 win the national on the seven beating Birmingham AA then the NFA changed it to points 1972,1973 although the likely lads didn't win them they would of it had been on weight and then 1974 win the national on points on points what a team
by the way angling times where you have Ivan fishing the seven its in fact Leicester straights

here here . a very enjoyable read of a true legend of a bygone era. one thing that comes across even though he fished at the highest level was that he seemed to bloody well enjoy his fishing something alot of anglers don't seem to on account of all the moaning that goes on. the wigan canal circuit attracts alot of older anglers-some 80 years plus-who can go because it's affordable and they can have the craic with the lads and i'm sure ivan would have been doing the same on his circuit now if he was still here

The first time I met Ivan was when I fished Loughborough about 7 years ago, so glad I did as he surpassed all expectations as a person. Wish I'd seen him fish in his heyday

top bloke .in his later years first on the nene then the soar when he use to bank walk he would stand behind me and read the mood of the river better than anyone ive ever met plus a good laugh in the process.

Have to agree, Ive read it cover to cover, then back again. He was my angling hero as a kid, and I think AT should do a rerun of his articles, they were a must read back in the day
