stocking carp in canals??? (angling times) please noooooo! Image i don't have a problem with the existing carp that are in our canals (the majority of which were in before commercails took off) but i don't want to see them stocked as they are in commercials. it's not as if there aren't enough places to go and catch carp as it is. leave our canals alone >:(.

none yet. angling times has an article about stocking of carp in canals. it mentions the petition launched by shimano uk branch manager richard griffiths regarding removal of carp from birmingham and fazeley canal which i don't fully know the ins and outs of but it's the following extacts from the article that worry me.'he also hopes that he can lead a bid to convince BW to look to the future and stock canals with carp because he believes that this will make such venues much more viable and popular for future generations"

If the carpers were not so secret squirrel there would not be an issue.

If they had got in touch with Dams and Locks and explained the situation them i am sure a compromise come have been reached.

He is a carp angler, dams and locks took all the carp out of their stretches and moved them to a BWB day ticket water...they were between 15 and 25lb.

And if the fish belonged to Dams and Locks, why cant they do exactly as they please with them? All he has to do is not subcribe to a ticket.... simples!! Image

i see even Steve ringer has put his name to this disgrace  ::) ::)OW he's sponsored by shimano  Image Image
like lee has said the angling club asked for these carp to be removed its was only a small amount of carp that were removed a lot still remain, no one has mentioned the pike that also were removed the fish were safe and well looked after and moved to another stretch which is a day ticket water NOW  perhaps thats the answer i wonder if these carp anglers have ever brought a day ticket if so this could make quiet a issue abusing the BW and the angling clubs that rent the water
suddenly the next week A/T plus shimano think putting carp into canals would be a good idea i think this is a free advertisement and publicity stunt for shimano Image

I think the article in AT is politically motivated and controvercial to say the least !  ;)

at the moment i think AT have a very political writer
on one or two subjects
a couple of weeks ago i told the topic its finally happened fishery taken to court as printed in A/Tsince then and after a couple of messages on here i found out its a angler in leicestershire apparently the story is not holly true
and the printing of the compensation figure is bang out of order and we will have to watch this space
so either A/T are starting to over step the mark or this writer needs to calm down ;) ;)
