This was a match today on our 'chub infested' length of the SU Canal at High Onn - no b & j.

ALL roach weights with the odd hybrid; runner-up did have a 'uge perch.
Must admit there was ONE chub caught, it were four inches long.

Izaak Walton (Stafford) AA, Shropshire Union Canal, High Onn, Church Eaton, Staffordshire, Sun. 15. Fred Cheetham (Team Eclipse) 20-14-12, all roach, some topping 1 lb, poled punched bread and hemp, peg 3; Perry Follows (Team Eclipse) 20-2-13; Dean Williams (Team Eclipse) 16-3-2; Keith Hulland (Team Eclipse) 11-7-2; Eric Gardner (Team Eclipse) 11-4-2; Carl Westwood (Four Ashes AC) 11-4-0.

Same section that was in previous WLs and Div One National Image

there was a sheet of ice over the far side of the winding hole (turning bay). It was still there after we finished so the water and the fish were really cold. I had a level 9-0-0 for last in my five, fab days fishing, all roach on caster, some on punch.

Pegs 1-10 had 124-0-6 between them.
Five pegs on the 'Gantry' not so good but was still won with 6-5-12 of punch fish. Image Image Image Image Image

Fred is certain he would have over 30 lb, the roach were just boiling up on hemp; a chap jumped on the boat opposite and his hemp bites stopped straight away, there was still an hour and a half left. Image

Totally different but the roach at Rolfslake were on the feed in numbers today whereas 2 weeks a go all you could get was perch and the roach were in hiding.

Funny that, here in sunny Suffolk, the roach fed well Saturday but Sunday there wasn't one to be had on the same lake with some pegs the same and others different.
