Clavering looks ok
how about the res at Hartleylands for a change ?
I think that Hartleylands also own another match lake that is off site which you have to book through somewhere called Hawkhurst fish farm or so I heard  Image

I have heard of that one Clive. Apparently its not a proper fishing lake, its just there so the people using the cafe have a nice view and can make comments like

" look at the lovely display of gnomes they have put round the lake"

Its also a good source of income and has a brilliant business plan.

Buy cheap small carp.
Charge £10 to fish the lake
Charge for " Skrettings Fishery pellet "
get the anglers to pay to feed the fish until they reach 4lb.
Net and sell on the bigger carp for a good profit and restock with small carp.

So Im sure you wouldnt like it as the fish are "Small"

I will also be trying Hartleylands ( october ), though not sure which lake to book yet.
I also have my eye on this place http://www.clavering-lakes.co.uk/ . Colin and I will be taking a run up there soon to see.

Your comments on these 3 places and those already booked would be welcome.

pS thanks to Tony for booking Rockells in my absence. Image

1 Hartleylands
2 Clavering
3????????????  Image

No problem with either of the first 2, not so sure about the 3rd. Image Image Image

Dave,
Just a point, both the 23rd and 30th April are Bank Holiday weekends - first one is Easter, second is the May bank holiday.

What twat planned that. We will now have a load of skiving layabouts taking holidays from work and disturbing our calm peaceful midweek fisheries. Image Image

I will try to miss out the easter weekend but it will depend on what dates the fishery has free

Hartleylands Reservoir would make a change. Never fished it before but heard good reports from it. A variety of methods so all can be accomodated.

Clavering looks a decent water and is somewhere new to most of us.

We went and fished Clavering lakes last week and it didnt live up to expectations.
It only had 20 pegs not the 22 the website suggests. 2 of those were shallow (3 ft max rather than the 6 to 7 foot of all the others). The platforms were not brilliant either.
There were plenty of fish, both Colin and I had 7 carp plus I spent a bit of time on a top 3 with maggot for 15 lb of roach and skimmers. On top of every thing the breakfast was £7 Image Image
Neither of us felt the water suitable for our club so I havent booked it.

Im left with a couple of options.
Southend farm.
The match lake at Darenth which I cant trial fish as its only available for matches. Breakfast could be cheap though as Al only lives a few minutes away and his missus could cook it for us. Image

There is another lake that Clive knows about 3 miles past Hartleylands which could be a possible.

If I remember correctly, last time we went to Southend farm it fished pretty dire - don't think I want to go back.
Not sure about Darenth either, think I read somewhere a few months ago that it had become neglected and staff were rude, probably not true but perhaps you or someone has some up to date info.

We fished one of the small lakes at southend farm last time and the weather was not good. I won it I think with 20lb odd mostly caught in the last hour. I think I choose the wrong lake last time so we could have it all to ourselves. 20 pegs on the big lake would have been better.

Colin has been fishing the other lakes at Darenth recently and hasnt said anything. The thing I like about it is that it isnt very far for me and its about time I got a short journey. Image Image

Can you please let me know when you are planning your next trip to Hartleylands Terry, as we need to sort out the October trip.

Dave, I can go to Hartleylands pretty much anytime, I know several people have expressed a wish to fish the Res. this time - have you decided which lake to book and they'll probably want to know how/when payment will be made.

Further date confirmed as 18th October at Hartleylands. As Nicks lake is already booked for the whole of October  we will be fishing the Res for a change. That should please some of you  Image I just hope the weather is good as its far more exposed up there than Nicks Lake.

Many thanks to Terry for booking it while he was there. Image

Dave - having had to miss the first match :'(, as you can imagine I'm gagging for the next one. I assume prospects for a match on 23/30 April are a bit thin now? I've got my fingers crossed for something - otherwise its a 7 week wait to start my Marsh season :-?
