Simple Match Fishing Forum

I have managed to get a late booking for Blasford hill on 17th July on the match lake. The lake is just north of Broomfield hospital in Chelmsford on the right hand side of the B1008. There are a maximum 22 pegs but as the lake is a laid out with 10 either side and one at either end i would think it better to have only 20.

Doing a Colin are we and getting some sneaky practice for our match naext month.

Has anyone got a clue on this water?

Not a lot Keith we last fished it in 2003 and Colin won with 19lb mainly carp though it was very early in the year. I dont think it is dominated by carp as the owner said someone had 30lb of roach in a match a short while back. ( Fact or Owners talk----You decide) We did get some large perch that day and Im led to believe they are still there.

We may be undertaking a "Fact Finding mission" next Wednesday so watch this space. There should be plenty of bites though I dont expect big weights. We have been asked to weigh and return 4/5lb carp so will any of you with scales please take them along on the day.( I have 3 weigh nets available.)

Directions

The best way from the A12 coming from the south, is to take junction 15 A414 and follow for about 1 1/2 to 2 miles to a roundabout and take the 2nd exit. There is another roundabout straight after  take the first exit which should be the A1016. This leads to a major set of traffic lights at Parkway follow round bearing right and about 400 yards go left onto the B1008 Broomfield Road. There should be big red Hospital A&E signs just follow them. About 3 miles you should reach a small roundabout with the hospital on your left. Take the 2nd small track after this about 400 yards which should be signed Blasford hill fisheries.

Dave - if/when you and Colin go for your sneaky practice fact finding mission, can you suss out if they do a brekkie or where we might be able to get one nearby?

No facilities on the venue. :(

For brekkie if you go into Chelmsford Hospital there is a cafe at the back corner by the car park that is open to the public.
