Lee,

It needs a bit of work to get the pegs sorted. Overgrown on towpath, a few steep banks, weed in some swims (should die by winter) and it needs to be pegged out permanently etc.

The canal however is full of fish - roach, skimmers , tench, rudd and perch. I am hoping for a real good match. Pleasure sessions have been great on a variety of baits.

We have control of matches on canal this winter, subject to honouring previous bookings, with an option to extend.

Hope to run a few matches in autumn and then combine with Cov League that we also run after Christmas

Once sorted i will post some maps etc

Only 5 mins from my house !
They are catching well at present 4oz to 1lb tench and 8oz to 1lb plus skimmers, odd small carp, chub, rudd and roach.
Best bait at the mo is PELLET !!!!!
Only 1 boat on the length and that don't move !
There is a lock Dodge ! but it is very rare its used !
The canal is approx 1 and a half miles long. It has a basin at either end and a few turning area's.
The idea was to try and link back up with the Coventry canal using the original footings.
The funding is no longer there so it is very doubtful this project will ever get finished.
Hence no boats, tow etc.
Not your average typical canal !
More like a canal commercial !!!!!!!!!

It is Larry ! , I live just over the border !
The area in question is very nice now, in fact i use to work at Rawdon in the pit days, where 'Conkers' is now built (Theme park), the deal was when the pits shut and the open casting finished the place was landscaped and alot of money was re-invested in the area.
To tell the truth it has turned into a bit of a stockbroker belt with the M42 running close.
Posh brummies have taken over !!!!!!
I look forward to seeing some good matches being run on the canal as it has alot of potential.
Plenty of parking, a few walks but the towpath is good, just a few steep area's to sort out regarding pegs but apart from that its looking good.
Because the canal starts at conkers and runs past the Moira Furnace museum there will always be a fair amount of people about and cyclists but thats the norm now at lots of canals !!!!

CWH,

As you say lots of potential if a bit of work is put into it. Hope to start on pegs soon.

The canal has a 'towpath!' both sides. We will pegging opposite side to conkers/furnace/main path as this is where they want us to fish, as should all pleasure anglers. This is is opposite side to where most people cycle/walk. In winter there should also be a lot less people around

Hope to run an autumn league and a winter league (after Christmas) as well as AT matches. I will post details nearer the time. All are welcome.

CWH,

B&J will definitly be in for Warks AT in November and Cov Winter League (after Christmas)

Have not decided about Autumn matches yet. Ill see what the concensus is. Personally i think you would have good matches without it whilst the weather is not too bad and it would also help reduce costs. I will go with the flow.
