As Chris says its Trev Tomlin in his fishing days.
As the photo shows it was at the start of Trev's relationship with Sensas and to be fair he was largely responsible for pushing the company forward in the UK.
As I mentioned before, Trev was a BT engineer formerly before turning into an entrepreneur. I first met him when he used to come to the Trent at Burton with Ivan and the crew, He also was around Bob Eaton's house alot (used to work together at BT) and as a kid I used to live next door but one to Bob(Bob still fishes and is still very competitive).

Trev tomlin the master in-venture top bloke and best friend to everyone in the team still got the coat but lost the cap they were the best caps on the market john Clarke and Derek moulding still us there boxes  choppies right he spearheaded sensas right to the top and he still looks after Leicester sensas as he first did 
i hope we will see a bit more of trev this coming year as he's got a new hobby photography i now he's been looking on this site so we might see him on here soon   with some photo's

At a time when most 11mtr or 10.odd mtr poles were weighing in around 1000g+ I remember an Olympic pole - sounds just like that one you mention Joffie - coming out that weighed in at just over 600g

Around that time there was a place for long whip fishing on the cuts.
At the time our squad put this idea to Olympic (EA Rod Co) and came up with a very light tool for the job. It was called the Arborella (something like that, could have been Alborella) and if I remember right it started life at just 6 metres but they bought further sections out to make it longer.
It sold very well at the time and was quite costly in comparison to others.

Not too sure about this but I remember that green pole too, wasn't it just called Olympic? Perhaps TT will enlighten us.

Just for the record Ray Mumford was mentioned in this thread. As far as I know he is still around but he has had Alzeimers for many years now and is in a home somewhere.

I remember the Alborella Bill - had one that went walkies, then a later model Maver Alborella that I gave a 'yougster' a few years back.

The picture was circa 92 so would think it was probably more likely to to 'an early maver' cuss I'm sure the Olympic 'whatever it was called' came out sometime earlier......somewhere in the mid 80's

Bet somebodies still got an Olympic 'xxxxxx' in the loft and can put us right

ll I can remember is this. That green Olympic, if it was called that, pole was selling in in 1986 if not earlier but in those days they had a very long 'sell span'.
The Olympic or EA Rod Co Alborella came out in 1987. Phil Briscoe was General Manager at East Anglian Rod Co before moving on to be MD at Maver. That probably explains the 'Maver Alborella' that came out a bit later.; I think that was a top seller too.

We also came up with the idea of a short whip of varying lengths up to 3 metres. That proved to be a 'dead duck' at the time but I think Daiwa did one later but that wasn't too successful either!!

It was deffo one of the early maver poles Joff !

CWH Dunno what pole TT was using but there certainly was a 'green' one produced by EAR Co, - it sold loads.

Had a 6m alborella myself,nice whip
I think the EA rod comp did one called the "spiralite"
then the early mavers were called "litanium"(i think)
I had a cheaper early maver called "thema 151" a
few years later,they also did thema whips upto 5m

That could be it TMR , sure it was a '??????lite' cuss I've had 'something lite' in my head all afternoon - it had certainly got a spiral weave through it......I think
