Hi Joff, so is that the original anglo dutch festival that's been cancelled ( ie the festival immediately before you normally go?) or the first of the 3 weeks. If there's 70 fishing are you going to have to have a section on the moat?

we fished with the dutch last year and we still couldn't use the same sections. Jan told me they will never change on the 5 hour thing but if they do I might go back for my annual 2 weeks of silver fishing

You don't want to draw like me last year matey, never got near a sluice or good area. ( unlike a certain match oprganiser from leicester I recall :D :D :D :D :D :D
I think you should have a few early nights, you need the sleep at your age ::) ::) ::)

Joff, Browny spoke to Pat today and asked about the 5 hours and fishing the same pegs etc and it was news to him. Think your grapevine is a bit dodgy in Leicester :D :D :D

He says a few of the dutch aren't fishing the 2nd festival so are fishing the last one ( yours) and there should be about 55-60 on that.

If Jan can't then no one can. He was telling me about the meetings he's sat in and ended up tearing his hair out cos he can't get anywhere. Apparently you're up against some people with a lot of influence.

Dutch might want it on weight.

A QUOTE FROM TAFFY NOT ME Image
Main line 0.16, 0.14 hooklength, something like a size 14 B560 hook.

Make them on top 5's but leave it a bit longer so you can trim it accordingly as some sections are a bit deeper than others.
Don't have too shorter line between elastic and float like i've seen some do.

3 gram floats, olivette around 3 foot from the hook, 3 no 8 droppers. Some guys fish a float length on the bottom but I don't think it's enough, I have 2 rigs one about 18inches on and another 3 foot on.

Elastic I use maver 1.4 dia ( think thats a 10) quite tight.

If it's still and sunny you might catch shallow so 0.7 to 1gram rigs between 6 foot and 10 foot deep

I mix 5 kilo's of groundbait up, ( Sensas river and superbremes or similar, doesn't really matter, make it a bit wet so it stays down and put half a bottle of aromix in to deaden it
Put a pint of casters in and a handfull of corn and chuck most of it in at about 10.5 metres, keep a bit back for the feeder.
Then stick a section on and put a few baitdroppers of maggots on that line.
Then you have to work out whether they want to be on your stuff or past it.

Play around with baits, 3 dead maggs, caster and maggot etc.

if it's hard keep your feed tight, I use a kinder pot and one of those sprinkle things so you can feed a couple of times. Don't keep chucking balls of groundbait through the day cos you'll get plagued by foulhookers.

If you are on pegs 301 to 330 it is worth feeding a 5 metre line and also on pegs 363 to 372, wouldn't bother elsewhere.

Put a bomb rod up for fishing just past your stuff and sometimes a small maggot feeder works.

Anything else give us a shout.

Are you pleasure fishing or on the festivals in April?
