I want to target those lovely bream, Gem wants to catch them tinca's.

Thinking of going down on June the 11th if anyone else fancies it, proving there is not a match on there. Cheers.

No match on any of the sections that weekend Simps - mind I did have to cancel a club booking for the following day - there's a boat rally on the Sunday where they meet and moor up on The Common

In past years there have been stalls with traditional canal fair etc - not a bad walk around to pass an hour or two  Image

On the positive side, with a few more boats going up the cut on the Sat and Sunday, should mean a bit more colour in it   Image

Hi Simps - I know the Fishley sections are rather peaceful and more Mr Crabtreesque - especially when the cabbages and lily pads are in full bloom in a months time - but don’t discount the Common section.

In fact leading up to the site match, all reports I was receiving were of far more consistently better pleasure weights coming from the Common rather than to the left of Wood Lane.

Just to give an example, I received this mail today from a member wishing to renew his canal season ticket......

I had a cracking evening on the 'cut' last week. Fishing about 75 metres from Wood Lane bridge towards Finger Post. Had a bag of about 30 plus 2oz Roach, a few perch and a couple of Tinca's about 1.5lb each. Simple pleasure!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I hadn’t any problem switching to there if the blowtorch hadn’t done the business - in fact I was in two minds - round on the bendy sections only a couple of anglers either side are visible, whereas if we were along the Common it may have lead to even more banter along the bank - plus I know the Wedgey’s and Bill yards punch still works well along there Image ;)

I want to catch them cracking bream, not really fussed about the tinca's :D :D

But it may be worth a go, cheers.
I forgot my punch for the site match but maybe that did me a favour, I will never know Image

If you dip back on the threads on here, either last year, or the year before, there's a couple of postings and pictures by Sprucey who had a breme or two along the common ;)

Just to forewarn members the 'Common' will be 'booked up' :D - you'll have to head to the left of Wood Lane ;)

Popped down yesterday Simps

Two guys fishing just to the left of Wood Lane just past the 'stumps' had had several tincas to 5lb a piece and been seen off a few times as well - on worm over caster  Image

A carper on the common - near to where Diddy and Guesty fished in the 1st SMF match - had two double figure carp, but also said he had several 'big' bream. I asked him 3-4lb?

'Nope' he replied - a couple went to 6-7lb  :o

Low and behold, went down to have a look at the match today.

Caught up with the organiser - pegged 50/60 yards before the radar gate. he was chuffed - he'd had roach etc but been seen off, but told me he'd had the biggest bream he'd ever caught.............struggled to get it in his landing net, and reckoned it went 6 or 7 lb  Image

Another guy past the radar gate had also been seen off a few times
