Spread around a bit for us 'club' anglers...........but that is dependent on both

a) The no of anglers fishing and
b) The amount of bish bosh you've got to spread around

spread in around its not all about money these days 6 peg sections worked well in our summer league gives more of a chance to the average angler who really wants to get better Image

If there are 25 plus anglers fishing any canal there will allways be iffy areas where an angler cant win or frame from so for me it always makes sense to have smaller sections Image Image

You know, I'd prefer not to bother fishing for money at all.

I just dont 'get it' when it comes to fishing for money.

Matches yes, but I don't get the money angle of it at all. Just me :)

Certainly for club matches you are right.

In my club the standard of angler varies a lot and in the past quite a few stopped going in the voluntary £5 pools as they had hardly any chance of winning. Now I run a compulsary £2 pool for sections of 4 or 5 depending on numbers, so the most that can be won is £10.
Now we often get the better anglers drawing in the same section and lesser anglers winning now and again. Last year we had our oldest angler (70+) win a section and I can imagine him running hobbling into his house waving a £10 note in the air saying to his wife " Look I won money at fishing for the first time in my life" :D Image Image

Thats the way it should be. Image

Al

It all depends on who is organising them. Image You missed a cracker on Saturday mate.

From what I heard both Dave and Mugger are frightened to death of fishing against Gladys.

More like 4 matches. I might just invite her along to a match next year so that when you finally do get an invite you can also have the pleasure of being "Gladysed" Image Image

Dave,

More like you need someone to hold onto your electric trolley. Boy you have got lazy since you got it. :D

Al

I will have a chat with Dave and see if we can sort something out for early next year Image. Very little holiday left for this year. :(It will be arranged so Marsh AC members get first refusal on pegs. Image

Payouts are all relevant to how many fish and what the peg fees are.

Eg Canal match

20 fish at £10 each = £200 takin in.
Peg fees = 20x£2 = £40
This leaves £160 to pay out
Sections of 5, £15X4=£60
This leaves £100 to pay out
Main payout £50, £30 and £20 (first three)
or £60, £40 (first two)

Always try and make sure the 3rd is at least double the section prize. I haven't in this case beacause it is difficult with small turnouts, sometimes it is best to pay the top two, in this case it would be £60, £40, which I would prefer to be honest.
The reason is if there is a tie for third they could end up with less than a section winner who you may have beat!

Obviously rip-off peg fees make a mockery of it all.

SAY NO TO NATIONALS ON COMMERCIALS

Joffie - perhaps it needs a campaign/poll across the various forums so that the participants views are recorded/documented 'in advance' of any potential change Image
